What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I love it. I think it looks amazing.

 

No so i did the POR 15 on the spindles with a brush and did the brake shields with just some rattle can rustoleum. I felt like POR 15 on those would be overkill and they were in really good shape already with no rust on them.

 

Found junkyard gold. Out with old.

 

Bed restoration complete. Before, during and finished product. I’m beyond how it came out. Really didn’t think it’d be this nice. Sprayed all plastic pieces. Monstaliner. Side note I should start a build thread.

 

Nice! Did you replace the bed floor ? Or patch it?

 

I think I'm just mostly moving rust around at this point.

 

I just cut two strips where the rot was and welded in new ones.

Side note: make sure you get that rust dust off. Shitll destroy the paint. It took a toll on mine after a couple days of my frame repair

 

Ah ok. That works. I did a little of that....it's fun material to weld.

I plan to paint it anyway, but thanks for the heads up.

 

Well as I have free time at work I am working on getting the rear axles all done.

 

Dropping trannys, all for a $10 seal.

Yeep. Got the trans input seal too so I dont have to do this twice.

Ha You’re not wrong, if it wasn't for Timmy the Toolman’s very detailed youtube videos, I’d be very lost.
I’m finished with the easy part (disconnecting & unbolting everything), so now the real fun begins

 

Just make sure NOT to sink that rear main seal too far in. Needs to be flush. If you aren't careful, it'll go beyond flush.

 

Satochi grille is completed. Details will be in my build thread. Just need to get the bumpers back on, but that takes another set of hands, or two!

 

Don't know if the v6 is anything like my 4cyl this way, but I was able to remove that back plate thing that the rear main goes into and press in the seal with it detached from the engine.

 

When I did my v6 I just pressed it in with it on the vehicle. Went in real easy.

 

Rolled over to 280k miles. I just keep fixing things as they need to be fixed. Working out good so far.
