I was wondering how the walk through goes. I have a few paint chips and scuffs. Sounds like they don’t really care??

We’re there any surprises when you showed up? I have to drive 750 miles to Sacramento too if I want their offer. I just don’t want to get there and get nit picked down on price because of some minor paint chips and stuff.

Due to selling to the CA market they are offering $3500 more than local WA dealerships and Vroom.

Just redid the estimate today through carvana, new offer just shy of 36k (about $800 more than I paid in 2018). There's a brand new black sport 4x4 with premium and technology package that the dealer is offering for 37,xxx. I "saved the quote" from carvana and am considering it but am going to have to think long and hard if I want to do anything here, I doubt the dealer would be willing to match the offer, would theeeeyyy??? :notsure:

Also dont really want black but choices are limited:annoyed::help:

Carvana and CarMax are legit. But it depends on where you live as to what they will pay. I sold my 2009 via Carmax for a couple grand more than the Carvana offer... It was not even close. But they are definitely legit and it was a hassle free sale as opposed to dealing with private party sales where you could get more, but have to potentially deal with more BS...

If I had any other car I was interested in I may actually do this...mind you I paid 34,600 less than a year ago.

    Edit:...BRONCO?!

Gonna look into selling mine to Carvana. Would move into something very used and very much cheaper. But I really like my truck. Dilemmas.

Carvana offer was 36.2k on a 2019 OR Manual that I paid 33500ish for 1 year ago. Have racked up 17,500 miles in the meantime. Sticker was in the 38k or so range. Owe 26.5. With rates the way they are on new cars compared to a year ago, grabbing some equity out of the truck, and essentially driving it for a year for free....it is super tempting. I have a different car that I could drive (GTI) due to wife working from home plus enjoying classic BMWs...

    Sam

P.S. Vroom landed at 31.9k on their offer. Essentially the difference is the Carvana market adjustment, which was ~$6k on Carvana. Further, if you really want to throw them for a loop, appraise an M-Coupe for sale (will never sell but was just curious). Literally said it broke their algorithm.

I would always use Carmax's offer to get my dealer to pay higher for my trade. Carmax was usually $2,000 to $2,500 more than the offer from the dealer. The dealer would match most of the time.

Granted, the prices being offered, especially for some of you like the OP in general are crazy but Carvana for me at least Is only offering $29,000 for my recently traded in 39,000 mile 2016 SR5 DCSD 4wd, which is just dealer trade in value according to kbb. Granted 4 years ago brand new I only paid 28,600 for it. But KBB is listing the private party sale at $31,600. Normally, I hate selling private party but I think in this market it would actually not be too bad. So if you have another vehicle you can use and can sell your truck private party right now and then buy a new one in a couple months for probably Close to the same amount of money then you’re going to come out WAY ahead.
We just sold my wife’s SUV. We got $1,500 more for it than we paid a year ago. Sold it in three days on craigslist. Super easy

I was thinking the same thing. Unload my truck now for a couple grand less than new 2.5 years ago. Wait for things to settle down and pick something up later this year.

I’m moving to a full size, so with the redesigned F150 hitting the lots in a few months I’m thinking there will be a moderate supply of lightly used half tons on the market by the end of the year from folks that have to have the shiny new penny.

Just for kicks I got a quote and excluding taxes it was $300 less than what I paid. Unfortunately Taxes and title were over $2,000. Not a bad offer but It can't be replaced, American Tacomas are no longer being built. I was tempted since my Tacoma is too big but I have another car to use for work and city use.

I need to stay off the internet until this Carvana thingy passes. I've spent the last hour searching inventory LOL

Basically, I can add 6 months to my current 24 months of remaining payments by getting a 2020 with the same build but with the new electronic goodies and LED lighting. I'd have to pull all my mods.... that would be a full day in the garage. I'd be moving up 2 years and reseting the odometer to zero from 35k.

Honestly, it's very tempting. Giving up Inferno, the current crawl control issues, the fact that mine's been trouble free, and I'm not motivated to pull all my mods, all adds up to 'I think I'll just stick with what I have'. Oh, and there is the ~$8k difference between what Carvana is offering and what it would cost to get back into an acceptable Taco. That's the hidden cost no matter how good the buyout is.

Put my '18 OR in last week at it had a "+$3000 market adjustment". Ran it through today and it had a "+$5000 market adjustment". I'd be upside down $2k so it's probably not worth it right now, but it's good to know.
