Sounds like you want to get it, just want a great deal, so offer em 24 or 24.5 otd. If they take it, you will be assured it's a great deal. If not 2021 is not that far away, look for a great deal then.

I'm in south florida just was talking to a dealer in alabama. he quoted me $34,555 plus the taxes etc from my state . for a sport model , automatic, 5 foot bed. essentially that plus if i were to have the vehicle shipped down here, it would equate to equal or even more then just getting trying to find one down here. i also made a counter offer and it appears they don't want to budge on their pricing.

I had a fully loaded 17 OR at that point they didnt break up tech and prem, but instead it was tech and prem w/JBL and w/out JBL. So that would be a tech and prem w/JBL and whatever accessories/port options. Wanna say MSRP was around $41k, paid $36k for it new in June 2017 w/out any rebates.

I got a new lead on a semi-local OR Dblc sb with tech package and a few other options.
Deal quote below (truck is in the SF Bay area in CA.

    upload_2020-8-1_16-46-13.jpg

    Dealer price comes out to;
    E-price $41,856.00
    $757.75 DMV Fees
    $3,879.54 Sales tax
    **************************
    $46,493.29 bal to Finance

So, still nowhere near what they were earlier this year.

Do any of you with discerning eyes see anywhere where I can leverage some wiggle room in my in-person negotiation tomorrow?

Yikes, I paid, $39k (w/out rebate) for mine with prem and LEDs ontop of all that ($44.8k MSRP), personally I'd wait, good luck.

Have explored Az and Or and haven't seen anything for substantially less, although haven't inquired. Given the general lack of discounts, correct me if I'm wrong, but almost feel like the costs (travel/logding to Az, time spent traveling, sales tax in CA) wouldn't add up to make the deal more compelling in the current climate...

True, if you can't find a deal, but I bought a few 3rd gens in AZ (Phoenix and Tucson), all at 12-13% off MSRP which would be worth it for your situation, but if dealer's arent playing ball there either, of course makes no sense to travel and incur additional expenses. I would recommend reaching out to Chris Lopez @ Riverview Toyota or Mike Dougall @ Precision Toyota, both will give you the best possible deal in AZ (they are volume type sales guys).

Thanks for the intel! I'll give them a call, but on their website their inventory is looking as sparse as it is here in CA. Can't hurt to try before heading to the deal tomorrow, though.

For sure and Chris or Mike will tell you what allocations they have in the pipeline. Precision is a huge volume dealer (usually 100 Tacomas in stock at any time) so they should be seeing inventory soon.

I talked to a few dealers today in the Bay Area, and the word on the street was that inventory was going to start coming in in Sept. / Oct, however most of the new ones are going to be optioned out models slated to be marked up 1 - 2%.

You make a deal near that price you’re throwing away nearly 10k. You can fly to the east coast for a better deal and drive home if you want a new truck that bad. There’s never a reason to pay much over invoice for a vehicle.

I happened to get connected to this one broker through my son. Apparently not many people do this kind of work as there's not a lot money to be made here. This particular person who I went through was is in the LA area. After doing much research myself on make, model, year, color (I gave my broker a wide latitude on the color, I said any of these colors silver, the mud gray, black, blue I didn't care (be prepared not to get the color of your choice. Also told him what I wanted to pay which was no more than 34500 plus tax/lic.

I bought my Taco in early March just before the Pandemic really took hold, it's a 2018, had 30,000 km, paid $39,884 Canadian OTD. 6 sp Sport premium, Amazing truck so glad I purchased. Not sure if I overpaid or not but it was a good price for our area.

Edit: Didn't even read the 2020's part, so.. whatever lol

Yikes man. My truck is literally identical in MSRP and options. I got mine for 33,500 plus taxes @ 0%. This was back in May. This was in Virginia though. To be honest with you, if I had to pay that, I’d still be driving my old Jeep, but that’s just me. I guess I just got lucky with the COVID deals. That $800 DMV fee is ridiculous for one. I’d be looking for them to rake 2-3k at minimum off that truck or I’d walk. At the end of the day, it’s your decision. Even if you buy it, you get a sweet truck. That’s one way to look at it.

    Thanks for all the input!
Went to the dealer and was able to get them to bump the DMV fees way down. Told them I also wasn't into to paying over msrp and would walk and find another option down the street but if they wanted to get rid of the truck today, I'd make it easy and be outta there keys in hand in an hour. Guess they liked the sound of that - I managed to pay msrp, which I'm fine with given the covid situation and the fact that for me, the car was a need (just moved from NYC to Ca and was car-less).
It's a beautiful truck - very happy with my decision. I'll be posting pics! :kona:

Avondale Arizona Toyota has a OR and a Sport below MSRP and what's weird is that they also have a 2018 Sport with 37,000 miles on it for about the same price .Screenshot_20200802-200438_Chrome.jpg Screenshot_20200802-200136_Chrome.jpg Screenshot_20200802-200005_Chrome.jpg

Does anybody have any insight on the incentives coming out tomorrow?

I was offered an incoming Tacoma by a local dealer for sticker price (but not marked up) I really don't need the truck until October but wondering if I don't get this one (that is equipped exactly like we want) if I will be able to find another one like it any time soon...
