I'll say this in public, dont ever buy a claim that isn't paid through BLM. Dont ever buy a claim from Advantced Geologic, or Charles Watson. This guy is a paper filer. It's only done for major profit. Paper filling is where you only do the county paper work and not the federal. This blocks anyone for 90 days from Filling on that spot. On the 89thday you go move the location monuments and refile. Its a total dick move in my opinion!

do you have a sub $1k PI that you would recommend?

Edit: looking around it seems that I will have to wait and save some more $ up, or buy used as I could only find a couple under $1k.

I couldn't agree more! A company out of Utah, GRE (?) files paper on all kinds of claims (CA, NV, UT...) and puts them up for sale on their site, E-Bay, and perhaps other places.
They filed/paid a $10 "intent to hold" paper on a claim in Nevada in an area I frequent and sold it to some dude via E-Bay for $6,000.

I met the buyer while driving by the claim (he was proudly putting up shiny new claim markers) and he asked me (and my buddy) if we thought he got a reasonable deal. I didn't have the heart to tell him he got taken. If the buyer had known how the system works, he could have legally filed right on top of the "Intent" for maybe $200.

It's a total game and it is BS IMO.

Got a out for a few hours today at an old logging area. Not much but was nice to get out of the house.

Put a new rifle / detector rack on the sxs. Worked great.

How do guys/gals??? I hope everyone is doing well??? Nobody caught any "rona" I hope???!!!:goingcrazy::crapstorm:

Long story short, let's just say I've had family emergency issues on top of all the other stuff going on in the world and on the VERY TOP of it all, I was, more or less, forced to "adopt/inherit" a family member that was heading for a shelter if not "claimed" and "I" could NOT let that happen. So, I took it upon myself to take care of her. Bought her a cat tree, the whole 9!!! Plus, she just went in today as soon as I got off of work for her first checkup/evaluation and got her shots and everything. The doctor agrees that she is no more than 2yrs old.

Anyways, here's a picture of her... my brother named her "Tegriessa"... super MELLOW cat and he basically rescued her when he noticed her wandering around the mobile home park he was living in... she was no more than maybe 4x months old or thereabouts, at the time, when he just saw her wandering around and crying out... now fast forward roughly just over a year later, given recent events, I am now the owner and doing my best to take care of her for him.

Glad to hear you're still alive!
Cats are cool! I'll be honest though, never once did I think about detecting the litter box. I prolly should though, as the back room where I keep it is the only suitable place to detect in this August heat.
Turns out I wasn't born with the Hartung gene allowing a person to detect in 120+ heat...

 ALL!!! Thanks for keeping my thread and the hobby alive guys!!!:fistbump::cheers:

Yeah avoiding the cooties as much as possible!!!:goingcrazy::crapstorm:

HAHAHA, by all means, go ahead and "spread the word" by using my MEME.:D:p:laughing::laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl:

    She's already leashed trained. :thumbsup::fistbump:
    IMG_20200712_165529990_HDR.jpg

    IMG_20200713_151155939.jpg

She's still a bit timid around her new surroundings though. I've only had her for about 2.5wks now. But I try to take her out to the nearby park... see below how big/long it is... just sucks it's a "pole line". But I SHOULD be able to get some detecting in with little interference... just need to turn down the sense, which is fine with me as my finds are typically pretty shallow anyways.

I'm also gonna get a bike basket so she can cruise with me. I still need to look in on those, but I have a rough idea on which one I want to get.

Yeah, I don't do well with heat myself!!! :goingcrazy::bananadead:

Btw, here's the "pole line" park I've been talking about that is just down the street from me. See my little truck in the picture upper-right corner of the pic.
    IMG_20200713_152544870.jpg

And it continues in the other direction (i.e. behind me).

Plus, there are plenty of "tot lots" I can hit along the way if I get tired of digging some Earth. Sorry, I meant "cutting plugs" from the Earth... not digging.:facepalm:

Depending on your detector, you may have trouble around all those power lines.
    Nice cat, I guess.

Yeah, I already know about possible issues with the power lines.

Just as long as I turn down the sense it's decent, but lose depth, which is fine because I typically don't go all that deep anyways... typically.

I've had experience before with power lines in another city and don't expect any difference.

My go-to heater is my ACE250, which I'm very comfortable with and like it quite a bit.

EDIT: I usually sand hunt the beach more than land as the return investment is fairly good with the quarters and dimes.
