Let's See Your Dogs!!

Good looking pup, read you decided on a Mal a while ago. Assuming you've done lots and lots of reading on them. Start the training now. I wont be getting a Mal till my girls are wayyy older as it would be a disservices to the animal (my girls are 5 and 1). Luckily my hunting maniac was 3 when our first daughter was born so he had a solid base. Couldn't imagine trying to train a fresh pup right now. Good luck my friend and enjoy.

 

I want to do something stupid. Been looking into it. I have been looking at the Tervuren.

 

Have the crate right next to my bed, so pup can see me. Also have another one in the dining room for when I'm gone. Now doors are never closed and Zoie sleeps in hers during the day. Annie always slept by the back door watching her domain, but still goes in there when I go out.

 

I’m on industrial leave at the moment so perfect time. And I have lots of it. My daughter is 4 and she will be helping as well to help with their bond.

yes, I’ve read a TON about them. And she got no breaks. We went straight into training last night when we walked in the door. She is a smart little one. She has picked up things quickly!

Hand fed for the next month or two by my daughter and I, and already starting with simple obedience (knowing her name, coming when called, going in her crate when asked). Then just gonna build from there.

 

research, research, research. Especially a working dog. Once that is done, jump in!! Get ready to be tired, have to continue to be patient while being tired, and not let their cuteness have you lighten up. The more strict you are when they are young and the more they are allowed to socialize with other dogs and people, the better they will be.

We.crate trained our cocker when she was a puppy but stopped once she was potty trained.

With our golden we let him follow around the cocker around and he learned pretty quickly to scratch at the back door to go in and out. He followed her everywhere.



Now two years later he never goes in the house but the cocker is getting old and won't scrach anymore so we have to put a potty mat at the back door. Some things don't change though.

I had to get some of those shop floor pads from Harbor Freight and laid them out, he doesn't like walking on the bare bed.

Okay, husky’s are smart, but not like this. Not a single accident in the crate, pees and poops on command, has already learned the command “sit”and sleeps 2 1/2 hours at a time before she whines quietly to let me know she has to go out. I’ve had her just over 48 hours. My girlfriend might be replaced....

i’m honestly shocked. My husky was GREAT!! This little woman just picks things up quickly. I do not envy my life as she gets older!! Not sure I can come up with new things as fast as she is learning. My shit is getting chewed up for sure lol

I had two Australian Shepherds. My female, who I got at 8 weeks old peed inside one time, next to the door because I didn't get her out fast enough. Herding dogs are awesome. Scary smart.
