Personally, I would vote yes. Maybe you just really like the TRD Pro look and don't want or need the leather seats or luxury options. It's your truck and you can do anything you want to do to it. What do you think? Yes? Or No?

If it wasn’t for the suspension I’d say yes.

lol no. its a pretender. i have a few pro goodies and when i buy the 2020 leds im going for the pro variant, but i would never pawn it off as pro. plus your insurance would state otherwise, as your vin. theres nothing wrong with wanting the pro goodies though, theres a reason why toyota sells em ala carte, cause they know people will buy em up, they even advertise it. but yeah. in the end? its still a trd no.

Nope you can add on all you want but at the end of the day the vin will say not a pro lol.
Same thing has been going on since the 1979-83 4x4 toyota pickups, everyone wants an SR5 but the vin says otherwise, and the SR5 will always be more valuable and cherished just like the PRO is today.
I would have a 2016 PRO if toyota didn't screw us 2016 guys lol.

Toyota builds a Pro version, people build other stuff.

No Pro from birth = no Pro at all.

And I mean there's nothing wrong with adding pro parts to say an offroad just don't be one of those A-HOLES and try to con someone out of money by lying and calling it a PRO. That is a big No No and deserves an a$$ kicking.
But man the pro is just so sexy, it really is. To me honestly the only true pro toyota ever made was the 2015 supercharged pro. By far the last time toyota ever showed some balls. IMO.

Lol no. You can put whatever badge, wheels, suspension, etc on your truck and if the vin doesn’t confirm it’s a pro, it’s not a pro. It can be 100% identical, but if it didn’t leave the factory as a pro, it’s not a pro.

Actually caught a dealer doing this. Advertising it on auto trader as a pro. Although on there website it was advertised correctly. Tricky little bait and switch going on.

Oh yeah, I have definitely seen this happen a time or two myself and oh how it pisses me off. Maybe someone smarter than me can answer but couldn't legal action be taken in that case of false advertising? Because there nothing more false and purposely deceiving than that.

I got pretty much all the pro goodies on my truck but the suspension, fog lights and rims. All those things I can pretty much switch out to fit my lifestyle for way less cash then going full pro.

Does the Pro have anything from the factory that a person couldn’t put on an off-road or whatever model they want and pretty easily? It doesn’t have front lockers does it? Or more terrain settings, or higher quality interior etc...there has always been a train of thought that if you are going to built out a rig anyway go lower trim so the take-offs are not as much of a waste. I guess if it’s for mall crawling and resale value then yes it’s the only “Pro”. For off-roading it doesn’t take much upgrading to have a more capable rig than the Pro.

The reality is that you can put whatever parts you want on your truck to make it your own. And, you can all it whatever you want. But the VIN is what defines what the vehicle is. You can assemble all the parts you like, stock Pro parts, parts you think are better or more capable and put them on your OR or your Sport or SR or SR5....but your VIN still defines what your truck is. It's just a modified "X". That doesn't make it any better or worse, it makes it your truck.

But, a Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is built in a Toyota factory and comes off the line with a VIN defining it as such. Anything else just isn't one no matter how much you want it to be defined as one.

I strongly vote no. Mines very close but it isn’t and will never be. They don’t make one in a longbed configuration which is why I didn’t get one but I love the look so I added almost all the pro bits to my fully optioned OR. I left the OR bed decals on because 1) I like the way it looks and 2) it’s not a pro so there is nothing on it that says it a pro. The only things I’m missing from the pro are the slightly larger sway bar, leafs and the red pro stitching and embroidered pro logos from my leather seats (The second biggest clue that it’s not an authentic pro ... vin being the number one). To me, if it’s your truck, do what you want to make it the way you like it but for those that say it is a pro when it isn’t and most importantly when they try to sell it as one, it’s just plain wrong!1BC63EFF-9684-42A7-9073-1C15CA9554B8.jpg

It’s a shame this type of question even has to be asked.

If it didn’t come from the factory as a Pro, it should never be labeled as one.

It’s like v6 mustang owners slapping GT badges or bmw non M owners slapping M badges, wheels etc. on their cars.

I sort of get the grille it’s more of a heritage design/look, but the people putting the new headlights that say “TRD PRO” on non pros or badging/decals, etc. is pretty lame.

I also don’t get the mentality behind trying to clone one and no it’s still not a pro.

I have a couple of spare Porsche emblems I can sell to you....you’ll have the only Tacoma Carrera on the planet, that is, if I don’t do it first!
