Not too worried about floods up here in CT. I live on the shoreline but about 5 miles from the actual water. We might get a flooded street but I could drive right through those.

Hate to burst your bubble, but I’ve gotten two door dings since I added my sliders... :bananadead:.

But to be fair... I was sitting in a restaurant last year and overheard a guy say to his buddy that when he was pulling into the parking lot, he hit his bumper on a “really big Toyota truck”. He said that he hit his bumper on the tires that stuck out of the truck. No big deal.

(my tires do stick out a bit)

I knew it was mine. So I went out to look at it. He didn’t hit my tire. He dragged his bumper across my slider. Dumbass. The slider was fine of course, minus a small amount of his paint. His bumper had a huge ass scratch.

Had a deer run into my drivers door shortly after adding my sliders . 2 small dents that I’m not fixing but I think the sliders saved my door from extensive damage by taking the deer down at the legs before it plowed full on into my door !

Oil change and found this........simply gutted. This just broke through, I check the frame all of the time. Anyone that has viewed my restoration page has seen how anal I am with this frame. You can see how bright orange the rust stains are. With 213K on it, I think my truck has just become junk...
    IMG_1167 copy.jpg
    And this is the passenger side, perfect from the outside;
    IMG_1166.jpg

And finally got the new to me from @98tacoma27 shock bushings in place. No more washer rattle when I go over bumps. Had to pull down the plastic cover down to get a good grip on it, but I will be replacing them this year anyway.
    IMG_1168.jpg IMG_1169.jpg
On a brighter note, I achieved 20 mpg after spark plug change.

was the frame ever coated or anything under the frame recall? It may still be covered for replacement if it was

It is originally a Hawaii truck, so I won't be able to find that out, but I seriously doubt it was. I'm just numb right now.

IDK if it will help but maybe some pics and a letter to Toyota corporate would help. This has to suck for you i know i'd feel sick as well

I doubt it would help. There was a judgement against Toyota for an inferior part. I still have that same part from the effected year, it should still be replaced, but F me because of a 12 year limit. A faulty part is a faulty part. Not sure I can afford to get it fixed. Just worried about when the frame will actually break and become un-drivable.

Yeah, I noticed that. it’s been on there for 10 years and was snugged up against the bumper. I figured that would happen. Never planned on taking it off, but it needs a coat of paint.

Seems like poor form to bag on the “overlanding” crowd, the get upset when people comment on your removal of your cvs. True, the bulk of the overlanders do it for looks. Style over function. Arguably no more ridiculous than removing ones cvs because “it looks clean.” Style over function. Everybody uses their truck differently. Who cares what someone else does to their truck?

Also what is it with overlanding. When did that become a thing? Like it needs a fancy name. Camping. It’s called camping.

Looks sort of similar to mine, 2 years ago, although a different location.... I was deemed eligible for a Warrantee frame.... I was told then that I was part of a "2nd campaign" on the Frame Rust recall thing.... Best of luck...
Here is what I experienced. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...tional-cost-to-expect-from-the-dealer.546565/
