Anyone know if you need an additive for the rear diff fluid? Not seeing anything on the list but figured I’d double check to be safe as a buddy mentioned It may be needed for the A-LSD. I’ve got a 2017 TRD sport for context.

Depends on what fluid you plan on using?

Some earlier posts about this, #736

Toyota Genuine Differential gear oil LT 75W-85 GL-5 or equivalent - Toyota part # 08885-02506
I also use it in the transfer case instead of
SAE 75W Toyota Genuine Transfer gear oil LF or equivalent - Toyota part # 08885-81080

SO much easer to just get one and put it in, got down to -15F to -20F last year and it shifted fine.

For the automatic transmission fluid, I worked out the math on the drain and fill:
    One cycle = 35% replacement
    Two cycles = 55% replacement
Three cycles = 69% replacement (manual recommended)
    Four cycles = 78% replacement
This assumes 10.8 qt total capacity (with aux air cooler), 3.3 qt drain and fills, a 4.0 qt final fill, and 100% mixing. Add 2% to those numbers for a 10.2 qt system capacity (without the aux air cooler). The replacement percentage also increases if you overfill during the process.

    Hopefully that's helpful to someone.

Not done one yet, but I'm debating an adapter of some sort to fill through the check plug.

First time busting it free was not fun, it kept feeling like it would round off. Make sure you use a torque wrench when you put it back in and it'll be easier to take off in the future.

Yea I got it off! Had to use a wrench as an extention for leverage. Washer was mangled so think someone at the factory was a dick about it. Drain pug came right out! Only have 29k on it but...the oil that came out was not pretty. So naturally, xfer and diffs next weekend! Just to be sure...

Just did rear diff, front diff and transfer case. Used amsoil severe gear oil 75w-90 for all. Runs smooth as butter now.

note: at 34k miles, front and rear diff oil looked like $hit however transfer case looked like it had plenty of life left.

So I have a question.. My 2020 didn't come with a oil drain gasket... How important is that gasket till the next oil change?

Did it stay on the on oil pan?

You can buy a 10pack on Amazon for cheap, I think they're important.

No it didn't. I was told to slower take the drain bolt off because oil will fly out. I made sure to hold onto the bolt while wrenching but I didn't feel or see the washer gasket
