No shit? I always thought it was for sealing leaks in crappy threads. Learn something new everyday! I wasn't looking forward to any leaks from the diff, so I was super happy when I screwed in the 'yota spiggot and got a nice tight seal!

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
The guys from the (natural) gas company looked over my appliance installations last time they changed my meter. I asked if the teflon tape I used for the connections was okay and they said sure, that's what they use. :notsure:

There is a special Teflon tape made specifically for natural gas piping. Gas rated tape. Works for butane and propane also. It’s yellow, or at least used to be 30 years ago. But any tape is better than none.

Huh. I'll have to look and see what's available next time I change my water heater. I do leak check my connections (soapy water, not a match like the old-timers with no eyebrows).

A tip for using tape with gas appliances. Don't wrap the tape all the way to the end, leave a couple of threads exposed. This will keep a stray piece of tape from getting into the line and causing problems with the gas valve.

Installed the ktjo4x4 White bowl light kit. Unfortunately one of them had a broken clip so I sent it back for a new one. Overall happy with it. Not too bright and not too dim.

Installed my MESO Customs Switch Panel, and CH4X4 Custom Door Switch Bypass switch. Because I got the 5 switches across the top, the two outer switches bump into pieces of plastic located behind the panel, and the panel will not snap back in place. I don't have a picture of that, because of how angry I was at the time, but long story short, the plastic pieces seem like remnants of where the cubby used to screw into. Mine is a 2020 model, so it never had a cubby, but the provisions for it seem to still be there.

I used a Dremel tool to remove the offending pieces of plastic, and the switch panel now fits fine. The original post I made about the door switch bypass can be found here. Nothing fancy, just a nanny feature that bugged me enough to fix it.

This is a great idea and I don't want to detract from that, but I can't help wondering if it would be possible to use hinges or pins to connect the "wings" so the thing would fold flat. If you had something large to put in the bed, you could fold it up and put it to one side. Just a thought...

Ya I thought about trying to set up something so you could fold it flat. The trick is getting the flaps to lock out ridgedly. The bed lip has a slope and will push the flaps in with pressure on the divider. I think there is probably a hinge out there or a combination hinge and lockout bar or something that would do it.

I had extra wood from another project that I needed to use up. So this was cheap, 4 screws, reviewed this photo, and some test fitting. Tapered the flaps so they fit snugly.

P.S.: Photo isn’t mine. I gratuitously stole it from some thread and can’t find / too lazy to really look that hard 33FD07F3-EE81-402E-A4F8-128625E071C3.jpg

I haven't installed mine just yet, but I do have the breather laying here. I just sucked on it. It does let air in, just a very small amount. Far less than it lets out. I think this is a feature, not a flaw. I just took my taillight off two days ago to wire my canopy. I am amazed at how much dirt and dust was in there. I was already wondering about the two way breather being back there considering it. If it lets any air in that means some of that dirt is going to find it's way into my diff.

Not too worried about it though. It's supposed to be the same part used on the front. I don't imagine the tiny amount of dirt that is going to get in will be a problem. I sure wouldn't want to change it to let more dirt in though.

That's a great idea. Do they rattle around when you are driving? Seems like they would make a fair amount of noise. Planning on ordering some to add to the two that came on the bottom, might add some in here.

Yes sir, I got full PVC black with red stitching. Not sure about the delay though, they told me custom orders take anywhere from 8-12 weeks and mine arrived after 6 weeks. They are definitely worth the wait.
