It’s worth a try if you have the desire/time/resources. I’m sure there are several guys who would benefit, which is one of the reasons I was willing to try it myself.

I believe I do have the resources to flash the odometer to my mileage. I'd have to toss my tool on my truck to see if I can do it to my speedo first to confirm.

Hey @loginfailed what is your PCM part#?

The 2012-2015 cluster is a part # 83800-04G40 and there is no deviation amongst the years according to the Toyota parts catalog.

The table is simply a 3d table with air load on one axis and rpm on the other for guestimating purposes. These guestimation a are referenced for component protection fueling mainly.

Oh so you switched to a 2011 cluster after all? If you did that explains the return of full functionality.

No. I only swapped the engine control module. Did not change clusters. I do have a 2011 cluster but I did not even try installing it since cruise indicator and temp gauge are working.

You asked for the PCM part number.

I went the route of a tuned ECU from JustDSM. Came in yesterday and installed it last night. Of course after installing it I took it for a drive around town and up and down some long stretches. There's definitely a change in driving the truck and how it responds. On the engine and throttle side, it seems more responsive and more sensitive to input. Power wise, it's hard to tell if there's more HP, but I know that wasn't full the intent here. For those that knew how the earlier Tacoma's drove, it's more reminiscent of that. Which I like.
On the transmission side the shifts seem quicker and sharper. They also happen sooner which helps give you the power when you want it. For example, when making a right turn at a green light, the truck accelerates nicely out of the turn. There's a quick downshift from the trans tune and much better pick up with the engine tune compared to stock.

There are a couple things that I need to observe longer before I make further judgement on. One is the truck seems to stay in gear longer when under load or encountering a hill. Which I do like in most cases, like around town. I also did my usual commute home from work last night and loved it. On the longer stretch drives uphill, because the shifting is more aggressive, it'll tend to hold 3rd gear a bit long and in some cases I wasn't sure if it would shift to 4th. So I'd do the D-4-D to get it to up shift. I'm going to test it more this weekend when I make my long commute over the mountain. I'm hoping it'll learn its way out of this, but we'll see.

The second thing I noticed was every now and again I'd hear this rattle at the engine, like it's knocking (or maybe it's something else). I used to hear something similar back before I did the TSB for the engine knock. It comes and goes and it's hard to pinpoint, but I think it happens in a higher gear, going uphill and engine lugging a bit. Anyway, I want to give this more time to see what happens. It's nothing like it used to be prior to the TSB, but something I notice with the new tune since I haven't heard it in a while.

I've only driven a short while on this setup, so these are only my initial observations. Overall I really like how the truck drives around town and on my commute route back home. So I want to say a BIG thank you to @JustDSM and @nd4spdbh for working so hard on the tunes and everyone else who has provided feedback to get the tunes where it's at today.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Yup give the trans some time to figure out its AI. I really wish i could tune the AI trans functions on top of the shift points but alas.

I wish you could too! I like the shifting best after a new flash/ecu reset and it seems to get worse over time.

Who remembers the brake pedal TSB? I think it was done on my truck before I bought it. It also involved a computer reflash that makes the ECU ignore the gas pedal above 1/3 of travel if the brake is applied simultaneously.
Can this be undone via HPTuners?

One can do full power brake stands with traction control off. You just cant brake boost at speed... not that anyone would need to do that in an NA or supercharged truck.
