Got off to a late start but it was a fun run, 4 of us did the 4wd trail and I think 6 or 7 did the main Pilot Rock trail. We started ours around 915am and finished a couple hours later, was hot as balls at 9 but there was a nice wind once you got up the trail a bit

Of course I didn't get any photos lol but hopefully someone else snapped a few

I quickly snapped a couple, fun day rolling with you guys. Really got to stretch out the trucks legs and I’m super happy with how it performed.

Was looking at another trail I've never done that's not too far, 2N49/Sugarpine mountain. Supposed to be a pretty easy trail. The area looks really nice, more forested/tree cover than the Cleghorn/Pilot Rock area which is why I'd like to check it out. I nearly melted on Saturday in the Pilot Rock staging area at 9am :bananadead:

Just sucks there's no campfires allowed anywhere unless it's an area with a ranger on site (or BLM land). I mean, I get it... the whole state can basically go up in flames this time of year if you look at dry brush the wrong way, but what fun is a group camping trip without a campfire lol.

I think it depends on the area but from what I've seen, yes. Any state/national forest area you can't have a wood camp fire without a ranger on site, even if there is a designated fire pit. So usually that means one of those pay-per-site camping areas.

on BLM land its allowed unless specifically stated otherwise, to my knowledge anyway. There is a CA campfire permit you can print out online that I think one should have even on BLM land just in case. It's like a 5 min video then a few common sense questions.

edit - in the San Bernardino forest it looks like they are allowing them in fire rings without rangers present. Just looked it up on their website.

I'd like another go at this one. @theluharlifestyle and I tried back in late november during a big snow, and couldn't go beyond a certain point because a downed branch and deep snow.

We could just toss a bunch of flashlights into a trash can and call it a clean burning campfire.
