No they didn't we saw the new editions for 2021 earlier this year, unless there are major changes you wont see a press release, plant usually switches over in the late summer and 2021s should start showing up on lots in the fall. I'm willing to bet with the lack of changes, not much retooling involved, 2021 production will start here shortly.

Now looking at the leftover 2020 Pros, you are absolutely correct, very few AG. So special color ones are either highly sought after or low in production number or both

Nope, Toyota does not do traditional ordering, you can't build a Tacoma like a pizza or domestic vehicle. Each region has allocations and each regions allocations are built to the configs that region decides on (reason you can't find a particular config in some regions), your dealer will then snag an allocation based on what you are looking for or if not an allocation for that particular region put in a special allocation request, which requires approval and takes longer.

Yep, slotted as a MY 2024, fall 2023, per leaked info earlier this year, of course COVID could change all that.

Any changes? Its odd that Toyota made a Press Release on the Tundra, 4Runner, Sequoia, Land Cruiser etc. but left out the Tacoma

I'm a bit confused myself too
my regional distributor is Gulf State Toyota (GST)
so they told me that the truck will be built in San Antonio, Texas, and then shipped to Houston the "port" and GST will then install additional stuff such as mud guards, predator tubes, auto lock tailgate, etc.

I just told the dealership I want a TRD Pro in Lunar Rock, and they have the color code: 06X3 for that already, and then I specify 6-MT and no options.
They assured me that it won't come with any options if I order that way.

I was kinda worried about allocation, but the sales manager seemed very confident that he can get it so I just agreed, paid the deposit, left with the contact info and he promise will call me with any updates to that pre-order

No, I kinda wish it could be an option for TRD Pro bed. I would pick it
Trail edition is SR5 based so I'm fairly certain it doesn't have manual transmission

Good idea. The sandwich didn’t bother me half as much as finding panties and the salesman’s business card in my backseat.

    @malatx
I would say - "Lay off my taco!" (MT PRO that is NOT white, black, or grey.) but it seems you are ahead of the game!

If delivery is expected in November... I should get on with it as I should be in the States by then...

Could you please add some details on the terms of the arrangement ?
    - Is the deposit refundable?
    - It seems that you are not committed on a price a this point? - Do you have an understanding with the dealer as far as how you'll arrive at the price?

Can anyone provide details on this 'allocation' concept? Once requested - is the dealer certain to get the truck they request?

What region / city / or even dealer, do you guys think would be the most advantageous for someone to place an order?(anywhere West Of Kansas City!) - Does it make a difference?

(I'm coming from abroad and not having dealt with any US Auto dealers for a Loooong time!)

    Thanks All!

Deposit is refundable, the dealers here in Texas have 0 problem selling ANY MT tacomas
You are correct no pricing yet, and we signed a piece of spec sheet that said price TBD and sale price = MSRP, whatever that comes out to be.
I went with a local one, and I did some research, that one is best sales dealership in the region, so higher chance of getting allocations (more bargaining power with distributors)
I think if you get in on the list early enough and the dealership is not in some kind of backwater, you should be fine.
Some say California and Colorado dealerships are allocated more tacos than other regions, so if you are there great

I really wish there was a price list for 2021 tacomas.

Gonna bet the price is similar to 2020 there bud. No real additional features or options, unless you're talking about the trail or nightshade editions. Only time prices moved significantly were in 2017 when they added the pwr rear slider, 2018 when the prem package got split up and leather/TSS was added, 2020 with addition of LEDs, new packages, etc, even then I think a base model TRD only went up $200 in MSRP.

I'm sure the COVID shutdowns will incur a larger price increase. I bet Toyota lost a lot of revenue during the last 4 months. I also believe they added random COVID safety b.s. at factories which cost some dough. I wouldn't be surprised if Toyota made consumers pay the costs.

I doubt it, gonna have a hard time raising prices / moving new cars in what will inevitably be a down economy. There was a mere $200 increase for power seats and apple carplay. I extremly doubt they're gonna pass cost onto consumers for social distancing and increased safety measures (PPE) at their plants. We shall see.

Yeah, I was wondering more about the new "trims" and what they are going to cost. I'm going to be buying soon and wondering just prices. Also, deals expire tomorrow. We'll see what they are for the fall.
