Dang. Well I take back what I said in that case

 

You dont even need a cross member, just run it with the factory trans mount. I did that the entire time I was IFS with my doubler. Worked great!

 

Mine happend almost a year to the day after I installed it, it was most likely installation error on my part. This was 2007/2008 and there was ZERO info on installing these anywhere. Like I said others have had good luck, I lost all confidence after that for mine.

 

Gotcha. If there's anything I've learned from the crawlbox BS thread, it's to use shit loads of anti-seize on splined connections.

 

Yea I found that out after mine blew up and I made it my lifes mission to plaster that info all over the internet.

out of curiosity (forgive me if this has been mentioned somewhere already) what gear ratio are you running?

 

ok, how's the power with 35s and stock gears? i'm running 285s and haven't felt a particular need to re-gear, plus at 80 i'm at almost 3100 RPMs. truck's much happier at 75 and 2800. trying to get this figured out as re-gearing has crossed my mind and in 10 days i'm moving to a state where the actual speed limit is 80.

 

If I could find the proper parts, I totally would. I need to write down the proper parts list and really start looking and collecting. Finding the proper ECU is what I’m expecting to be the hardest part.

 

Parts hunting is never easy. I waited 5 or so years for a decent local deal to pop up, but I was really only looking in here. I ended up just buying an ecu off eBay, wasn't cheap, but worked.

It’s extremely easy. You don’t need an ECU or wiring harness.

Sound like you got your answers, but:

1. My truck came with those little boots. Think it was an 01+ thing. Haven't run them in years and it's been fine.

2. Those old LBJs were shot! It's vertical play you need to be concerned about, and it looks like those had lots.

3. Alignment will look off when you first drop it back on the ground. You should be fine, but if you don't know the last time it was aligned, it couldn't hurt to get one.

I messed up by not buying one of those from Low Range last fall when you could double up on coupons and get them for 25% off.

Going to be watching closely for black friday deals.

Yes, lots of vertical play in the joint. Both sides.

I should get an alignment because 1. I don't know when the last one was and 2. I just got new wheels/tires on it.

However I am also going to hopefully be doing the suspension here in a few weeks, so I'm going to need to get one again after that install. I'll spend the money but doing an alignment so close together and paying twice is a swift kick to the nuts.

 

Lots of guys, me included, have wheeled the shit out of their TG dual case set-up with no issues. Glad to see people finally seeing the light.

I've got 2 years, 20000 miles and no issues with my TG case. I did go with a Marlin Total Spline input instead of the stock input.

 

No idea. Drives good though. Im guessing something is pretty bent somewhere.

No totally sure yet. Was the plan but fiberglass didn't show up in time and then I just got tired of waiting. Just wanted to go camping and the mid travel was the best option for that.


Solo replaced my LCAs with brand new ones too so that was super cool.
