Anytime you have questions, feel free. Under 8 months not too much heavy mental- socializing is key. We own a horse farm on a river, so never been to a dog park, but we actually use the horses to socialize- lol - good for the horses too.

I had two Australian Shepherds in the past. I'm up for one this time too. You could always get one a few years from now to stagger them out a bit too. I lost them both too close together which really sucked. I also think one will be an interesting experience.

Lost my 2nd two aprils ago.
    He was 14.

Met a dogo in a parking lot a couple of seasons ago, the guy was off leash socializing him.

    Straight up BAD ASS

Always usually have two big dogs @ staggered ages.

Not sure if Im being lazy in my old age or just selfish but my dogs go with me in all my travels.
Sure is nice only dealing with one.
If he didnt hunt Id already be all over the dogo but this cody dog will hunt.

    Yeah.
So, we have a 15 year old girl (Brussels Griffon) that is still kicking it, but blind and deaf. She does OK finding her way around the house, and is a pretty good sport when she wanders into the pool. But, she's not so great at letting us know when she needs to go outside for business. Kind of like having a puppy again, just making sure you take her outside often enough to avoid accidents.

And we have a Roomba. Guess what I spent 2 hours doing today?

My vote is on cleaning the Roomba. On the bright side you can probably clean it in an hour if it happens again.

Question, just because I never had this issue with my husky, but how was your pup at eating when he/she was young? I read that she should be eating 3/4 cup twice a day or split it up. Willow doesn’t get close to that and it’s not for lack of trying . She just stops. I space it out throughout the entire day with training and she gets A LOT of exercise, but there is a point she just looses interest. I keep the training time pretty short (5 min or less) and periodically give her a handful for her just to eat.

I was using royal Caine for the 1st 5months then I switch to a different brand victors I try to switch the food on him I’ll buy 3 bags off the same kind at 30 to 40 lbs a bag then switch it to a different kind lamb ,chicken just go back and forth and intend of treats I’ll give him dog food so if the bag says 3/4 for a day I’ll give him half of that as reward then the other half before bed that’s all the food I’ll give him no house food or can food

Young puppies should be fed three times a day based on weight. Be worth trying a different food. Some people suggest puppy food and others suggest straight to adult dog food which helps with the transition to dog food later. Puppy foods are generally higher in fat and other nutrients beneficial to them. I went to adult dog food three times a day. I chose a novel protein (fish, bison, lamb are considered "novel") which can help with skin conditions and allergies.

When you feed, bowl down and start the countdown. After 10-15 minutes, pick the bowl up.

If she's not eating enough food to maintain a health weight gain, you might look at a different food. You can also try adding water to make gravy. Or maybe chunks of one of the many sausage rolls.

    Good luck!

so I found out she was eating adult food the hard way. She had loose stool. I knew the brand the previous owner was feeding her and I was planning to transition no matter what.

I mentioned this in previous posts, but I don’t use a bowl (yet). Because the breed can be aggressive I want as much human contact as possible. My daughter, girlfriend and I all feed her by hand and I plan to keep that up for a couple months.

I like your idea @Trd420 ! She is smart. She gets bored pretty quickly. I may go grab a different brand of food and switch things up a bit.
