    It was a joke..

Every uncomfortable seat thread devolves into arguments and name calling because test drives somehow are the end all be all.

Yes, I’ve swapped out both of the seats for Scheel-Mann Vario F seats. We love them. This week we’re heading out on our round the world trip and felt the OEM seats didn’t support our aging backs. The great thing about these is that the lumbar support not only adjusts in and out but up and down. I’m 6’ 5” and my wife is a foot shorter. I got the XL version, love it. The seats also have a extendable leg support that is super nice, I’ve never had such deep seats which support most of my legs. The installer even kept the passenger seat airbag system working.

They’re expensive but if your back hurts with the OEM seats or like us, you’ll be in your truck for long periods of time they are totally worth it. Cruiser brothers of Stockton, CA is the US distributer and they did our install. They’re good people

The seats seem ok but the head rest is uncomfortable and difficult to find a good position. On the plus side, my access cab has 9 cup holders for 2 people.

    This!
The front bracket seat risers help big time. I purchased them & didn't install for almost a year but I should have installed them as soon as I got them. The difference is night & day. Get 'em, you'll love 'em.

This is what helped me as well. My seat is much more comfortable now. I still think it’s crazy that our trucks didnt come standard with a power seat (until 2020 that is).

for me the back of the seat was too far down compared to the front of the seat. the rear riser worked for me. The front riser would be too steep of an angle for me. Most seats you sit on are flat, not angled back.

Depends on how long your legs are. I have a 36” inseam. I’m always tilting my seat so the back is down and the front is up.

You mean on the stock seats? I feel like the headrest pushes my head forward giving me horrible posture.

Do you have a link or part number?
To me the front feels too low and that sounds like it would be perfect.

Also wondering if there’s any way to add a notch to the tracks, the adjustments seem to be too far apart.....just like the transmission gearing.

It is especially horrible since I've been paying attention to correcting my posture constantly for the last few months. Got a great gaming chair at home that's perfect, have good chairs at work that I can sit up straight in, but then the 1-1.5 hr commute kills me.

So had similar issues - i ended up placing the headrest in backwards, initially using a pill bottle to give it some height to actually contact my head —- but eventually getting my friend at a machine shop to cut notches into the opposite side so i could adjust it up & down just as you can when it’s in the forward position. Huge gain in neck comfort — though now i cant see stop lights haha

I'm literally gonna try flipping it on my lunch break right now, can't believe I didn't think of that.

I noticed when I test drove mine the headrests were absolutely intolerable. Pushed my head and neck so far forward I started getting a headache just on a test drive. Asked salesman what could be done because if they were all like that a Tacoma was off the table shopping wise. He turned the headrest backwards and told me it was a common complaint. Seat itself is decent enough but the headrest angle is a joke.

i actually find my tacoma seat to be more comfortable than my bmw was for long drives. although i have the 2020 with power seats, so it is fairly adjustable.

There is a huge difference between a test drive and long term ownership.

i found these did not work for me. it made my knees contact the dash and I'm in a MT truck so that was bad and i had to remove them immediately. instead i found the perfect solution was to drop the rear of the seat bottom and bucket it.

    ...
    - Seat contour:
stock driver seat was the most uncomfortable seat ever. within an hour of driving my right thigh would go totally numb and stay that way the whole drive. and my mid-upper back hurt from it also. so i went to Jay's Upholstery in Denton, TX and asked them to bucket it. $200 for the most comfortable seat i own now.
Passenger side, not touched, flat and quite hard:
Driver side, bucketed and cushioned. in this pic you can't see much but the driver foam is very soft on top and lets you sink right into it. they carve out the bucket to drop your bottom, raise the thighs a bit, then there will be some slack in the leather. they carve foam from the bottom, not the top. after that they fill the top with low density foam to take up the slack. so what you're looking at is kinda puffy on the top but you sink into the bucket easily. so comfortable and snug.
