Even at Canadian prices, I can buy an awful lot of gasoline for the extra $35K this cost over my 18 DCLB Sport. I get the whole, "Why? Because I can" thing, but for all the work and expense? Doesn't make sense to me.

Being that I've driven a small diesel SUV for over a decade this would be a dream. However not at that price. Maybe if I win the Powerball.

That price is high, you can buy a new OR and have diesel toys do the conversion for less

For $72K, I'd rather have a gas tacoma, a car and $10k in the bank.

Or, you buy a brand new OR, then using the money saved over getting the diesel swap, you can drive 200k miles before even touching the asking price of this swapped truck ($2.50 per gallon at 16mpg)

Diesel engines in light duty trucks are 20 years too late. Most guys running heavy duty trucks are moving away from diesel to gas right now.

A diesel engine runs the price up by as much as $10,000. Even if they were the same price you'd never break even due to the higher cost of fuel, not to mention maintenance. Gas engines have come a long way and will now rival diesel for longevity as well.

Twenty years ago diesel engines were a small price upgrade, got a lot better fuel mileage, lasted longer and fuel was 1/2 the price of gas. None of that is true today

Yeah. What’s with that? He built it “for road trips”, then only ever put 300 miles on the diesel. Somethings not right here. Truck must be goofy to drive or something.

Not worth having my Garage smell like a Garbage Truck Depot. Not worth having to smell diesel when I fuel up. Not worth having two batteries and waiting for it to warm up. Diesels have become so complex all new trucks used in my industry are gas motors now due to reliability problems and the cost savings.

Ahhh, the ol grass is greener on the other side thread, diesel isn't getting better in the modern era. I had diesel work trucks for years, no thanks.

How long ago did u have diesel?

Things have changed considerably in the last 15 years. I remember seeing the Audi R10 at LeMans back in 2006. That’s no normal diesel.

In Europe most high end cars are diesel now instead of gas. BMW, Mercedes etc. they are incredibly smooth, quiet and powerful.

America has never jumped on the diesel band wagon unless It’s gonna be a like a 10 liter engine. I think it’s mostly due to The countries fuel prices And emission control...
