Yeah, I hear ya. Ride quality seems a very subjective and personal thing. I ran Billys on my Ram and thought they rode awesome. Other people with the same truck running them would not like them because they were too stiff. I've got them in the 4Runner but they are Tacoma TRD OffRoad and for a Tacoma, so they are valved way to lightly for the 4Runner. It's super plush on the road and not enough control off road.

What cracks me up in hindsight, I remember like in prolly 2006 or 07 or so and I'm in my first 80 series, the LX450. and I'm a 'Japanese/OEM only/the Toyota Way of the samurai' noobtard at the time. So I'm reading ih8mud and specifically reading like CruiserDan and IdahoDoug messages, and Doug was part of engineer team to design 80 series, but they absolutely got it drilled into my head that OEM is ALWAYS the only way to go, otherwise you don't care about your vehicle:rofl::D
I'm glad I started with that mentality though as my baseline and now am able to allow myself to see where it is okay to run non OEM part without compromising reliability.
Oh, so I was saying on reading those guys posts, so I ordered the Tokico oem replacement shocks for the LX..... Drove like a dream too.

Do you have the stock TRD Billies or the B6 billies or the B8 billies?

Stock TRD as far as I know. Didn't know of the B6/8 ones until just now. What's the difference on them? Just curious, I'm planning out the suspension for the 4R so won't change what I have but would like to know anyhow.

The stock TRD Billies are spec'd by Toyota, they ride nothing like what Bilstein specs themselves for vehicles in the aftermarket. The TRD Billies are always accompanied by progressive rate springs as well, which would give you the "plush" feeling until you use more travel at which point it gets progressively stiffer.

The B6 is the default "yellow" aftermarket stock replacement billy. They ride stiffer than just about any other "cheap" after market shock, but theyre generally still considered good replacements. Most people put them in and comment how harsh they are but that they like how it improved body roll and steering feedback. Which in all honesty, as a competitive car racing suspension brand, that's what I'd go for too.

The B8/B9/B12, are all for modified vehicles but in "stock" locations. So lowered or lifted, or modified spring rate, or extra weight. Usually slightly larger shock body diameter but still generally similar valving and behavior to the B6 counterparts.

This is the type of info that regular laymen need to have access to for making suspension choices.
You really should do a comprehensive post like this one. You like the details, as do many of us.
    Good stuff.

Gotcha. The shocks are all OEM Toyota spec. Fronts came off a 2019 Tacoma and the rear from a 2017. Front springs are also Taco from the same vehicle (they were assembled) and rear springs are new 2007 FJ coils from Rockauto.

I'm leaving the suspension as is until after I do the body lift (1") and the FJ tcase swap. Might even wait and do the rear locker first. That is really needed more than the suspension at this point.

So is the issue in the clock? I assumed it was in the wiring because there was that aftermarket alarm system I took out and it had it's own flasher relay spliced in right under the steering wheel. When I took it out I just twisted the ground from the relay to what I assumed was the ground in the stock harness

Hahaha i just tapped the clock and this happened :rofl:15964708976357493769974419077862.jpg

It's a P0420... I need a new cat. But won't install a new cat until I get the rest of the exhaust system since it's stock with 250k on it

I check the light with my reader every morning to make sure it's still only ever that code lol
