Help a girl out? What's this noise?? 2001 Tacoma 3.4L V6

New power steering pump (along with many other new parts...*looong story).
Think the whining high pitch noise could be air still in power steering pump? Or maybe a pulley is tightened too tight? No idea what the other noise is. That noise doesn't sound in the same area as ps pump.

A/C Idler pully makes a similar sound when the bearing goes bad

 

Sounds like air in the rack me if I had to guess. Have you turned the wheels full lock left/right a few times?

 

I’m about 80% sure it’s a pump going bad OR a Flux Capacitor.

 

Yes, many times. Doesn't seem to get any better than that... ‍♀️

 

PS pump (& resivour) was just replaced few weeks ago.

 

Did the noise start after you changed any part in particular?

 

Even when I'm unable to run ac at the moment? (Still no No freon after repairs)

 

Yeah, that pulley is always spinning. Might be able to get a better idea of where it's coming from looking down on the engine with the hood open

 

You could always disconnect the suspected belts and see which components still are making noise.

 

Does it make any noise on start up? How are your belts?

 

Yes. take off 1 belt then the other, spin all spinning parts. It's 1 of them. You'll find it.

 

The sound is too vague to say one way or another. You need to pop the hood and pinpoint the noise then take a video of it to better approximate and make educated guesses as to what it is.

Take a long flathead screwdriver and use the handle as a listening tool while pressing the tip against the body of the items in question to see where it comes from.

Ok so here's what was the initial problem was... noticed a substantial leak...(back in Feb)

 

First startup after repairs and leak fixed...

 

And then again, a day later...



So replaced PS pump (w/ resivour)

 

I sort of hear it now. So let me ask you a question, after you replaced the pump and reservoir assemblies did you bleed the system or did you just put on the cap and call it good?

Also, try turning your wheel hard to the left or right and hold it for a few moments, does the noise increase or does it sound the same?
