I haven’t explored the world of replacing suspension yet but there’s some good experienced guys here with knowledge like @Island Cruiser is dropping.
@JuanitoBunito I know has been through it with suspension, not as much as wheels though :boink:

In all seriousness @Nlittle215 I’ve had an embarrassingly amount of shock setups in a shortish time lol

@JuanitoBunito you added a half inch top spacer to the fronts I believe?

    Morning. Here’s my two cents.

Front: I loved the stock TRD Pro Bilstein shocks. I replaced them with icon 2.5 coilovers because I started adding weight onto the truck and needed heavier springs. I’ve been extremely happy with my icons.

What I didn’t know then: 6112’s would have saved me some money, performed just as well and handled a 650lb spring.

Rear: I’m running Bilstein B110 shocks for the extra travel. I also have Dakar heavy leafs and the most recent addition is archive garage hammer hangers. I can honestly say the hangers have been the best money spent on my suspension to date. The Bilstein shocks are fine, I don’t need high dollar shocks there...

I wouldn’t buy dakar leafs again. Go with icon RXT or Deaver.

Overall, you just have to be honest with yourself about what you need vs what you want. Normally, what you “need” is a whole lot cheaper than what you “want”. If I could start over, there are several things I’d do differently and I’d have a little more jingle in my pocket.

    Good luck!

I’m not sure how to tag everyone but I appreciate the input. There’s a guy near me selling a 2020 PRO suspension set up brand new. He just put old man set up on. It comes with front and back plus leaf springs. Thing is it’s 2,000$ for all of it. 1. Will it put me at the same height I am now? And 2. For 2,000$ is it worth it?

So a bunch of people have bought The Pro and then turned around and sold the suspension off it. I’ve seen people sell the whole set up for upwards around 2400-2500, minus the leafs. So for 2k comparing it to that, it’s worth it. However, for just a little more you can buy something new and adjustable. For me it was plenty worth it. I did not pay that amount for my 3rd gen pro setup, I paid much less. I just got very lucky I guess. I also did not care about the adjustability. I do love how it rides and handles And I’m very happy with it.
I put 1/2” top plates on top of my front coilovers with extended hardware. This lifted my front end about an inch. For the rear, I had a progressive Icon AAL Along with my oem leafs and that lifted my back end about 1&1/2”. I’ve since replaced my whole spring set up with an Icon RXT spring pack set at option 1 and that’s given me the same lift. Next for me will be the archive garage hammer hangers shackle kit.
Seeing that he’s accepting offers.......I’d throw him an offer of 1600 and see what happens.
Like @doorsidedown stated, you just got to be honest with yourself in what you want. If all you want is a simple lifted suspension, that can be accomplished without spending a ton of cash.

I can’t 2nd this enough. I was happiest with the stock Baja Bilstein’s. There’s a reason TRD had these and the Pro version specially tailored. I spent too much money on stuff I thought I “needed” when the stock suspension got me everywhere I needed to go. I felt more ballsy pushing the stock suspension as I was afraid of damaging $2.5k+ aftermarket ones. Live and learn, as long as you learn lol took me a few tries.

Why not? I’m considering new rear leafs. I’m on TSB’s with an AAL and it’s not as good as I thought it would be. Go figure for what I paid for it. I think HD springs are probably for me, so I’m doing my research.

    Thanks for the tag!

I'm not into traveling to look at a vehicle and having it transported back.

I was just looking at a 2014 TX/Baja all original with 12,000 miles for $26,000. The dealer accepted a down deposit but if the deal falls threw, I'm next in line.

I got my finger cross on this truck. It's in excellent shape.

That alright, transporting vehicle isn't cheap. The transport company that are reasonable price I may have to wait months for the delivery.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not disparaging (arguably) the most popular leaf spring for the Tacoma. The price is right for what you get. Mine have never squeaked once since I put them on. However, they adopted a “W” shape immediately after install, they pop and clunk but that’s most likely solvable with Dobinson’s greasable pins and for my driving style, a constant load bearing leaf spring doesn’t achieve the ride I want.
If I could do it all over again, I would most likely go with a 6112 w/650lb springs, B110 rear shocks and the Deaver stage 2 springs. But I’m not changing now so I just live with the quirks. The archive hammer hangers have made a big difference since I’ve installed those.

Thanks. No disparaging necessary, I was just looking for an opinion. I'll keep it in mind. Ultimately, I want to find something that fits what I do with the truck.
