96 tacoma by speedometer connection

I just bought a 96 tacoma v6. The speedometer doesn't work. I looked under the passenger side and found the cable. I connected the end of the cable to a drill, the odometer changed. Looking at the transfer case I see an electrical connection. Question is how to connect my mechanical cable to the electrical sensor?

Does the speedo needle move or just the odometer spin?

 

It should screw into the transmission and snap into the speedo cluster

 

Someone installed a Newer Transfer case that used the Electronic sending unit rather then mechanical.

I have no idea if it can be changed to a mechanical type without lots of expense.

If your by yourself kinda hard to watch the speedometer from under the truck leaving the drill spin and crawling out is far to much crawling with no alcohol

Yea, When I pulled my speed o I was stumped on how to disconnect the speed o cable.

Finally figured it out going through the center air vent section and the cable has a small tab that gets pushed down to release it,
This is the only way to get to the back of the speedometer

.I tend to think every truck is 4x4!

Since to me 2wd is a car that parks 500' feet away and walks after being winched out the first time.
