Yea I've looked into those before, they use some pre existing holes as well as drill extra ones.

I agree with you that I would prefer them uncoated.. but not at that price

Metal is probably about 200 total. So 300 labor for something that takes about an hour and a half to fabricate with no prior experience (ask me how I know). It's not out of range for labor, but it's on the high side. I'm a cheap bastard though.

Also, bolt on sliders sound great until you have to drill all those fucking holes.

When the exhaust valves burn is it common for the heads to crack?

You are correct. I forget the nominal range spec'ed in the manual but I just remember reading a @CS_AR post on it and I made the number 14 stay in my head for a reference point. But 278 horseshoes is definitely way to high a resistance to function correctly, if at all. I guess it's better than an open circuit but kinda not really since there is no standard servicing/rebuilding the electric/coil part of it.
I think the Vessel JIS bits kit I ordered is supposed to get here today:cool:
    Wiha is good stuff man

yeah I wouldn't want bolt ons no matter what, I've known a few guys (not with 1st gens) with bolt ons and they flex like crazy. A buddy of mine has to jump on his after using a jack on them otherwise his door won't open lol. My welded ones flex a bit but not that bad.

I paid $400 for mine but that included having them welded onto my truck

Whats different about it? I've bought a couple of their CVs in the past, no complaints for the price, the typical weaker boot material sucks though but all the parts store cvs use it.

If it leaked it was definitely flowing! The resistance check just gives you a rough idea on the life left in the coil.. if it's too high it won't work
