A few months ago I started a thread on dash phone mounts. The DMM was recommended to me but I wasn't mentally ready to drill into my Tacoma. Long story short, the weighted beanbag base I was using sucked out loud. I got fed up and ended up buying the DSM since I only need one mount for my phone.

It came in the mail today, and I took about 10 min to figure out how the pieces go together, and another 10 to put it together. I love it. Thanks Taco Garage for a well executed product. If I ever buy another 3rd Gen, it's the first mod I'll make!

    Got mine installed today.

Used this dual arm ram mount, and this phone holder. Holds my large (Note 9) phone well.

Plan on changing the lower arm to this one, that is about 3" longer, to get it lower.

I love this thing. Highly recommend. Going to move the cable behind once I get motivated enough to learn how to take the bottom switch panel out. Need to pull out the stock USB port that control android auto. Just gonna leave that hanging out behind the dash when I do. I have plans and will use the spot it was in for another switch.

I used one of these radio holders from SDHQ: https://sdhqoffroad.com/products/stainless-steel-cb-mic-radio-mount?_pos=1&_sid=5e39b2a22&_ss=r

mounted it to a Ram Diamond ball base: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002KO5XVU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and then added a Ram double socket arm: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UGZTQO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

All mounts to the DMM ball. The holder has some velcro wrapped around it in case I need some.

I did give one of these a try but the radio rattled too much: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002MIQBZG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I was considering leaving the USB plug just hanging as well but wanted to see if there was a more elegant way?

What arm are you using to hold the phone mount? I like your setup.

Ordered mine finally last night, just the DMM and an extra ball. Already have some Ram stuff from before I will repurpose!

Definitely a great product. 20 minutes or so for the install and you can even tell it’s there.

What’s the best phone mount that won’t fall of with heavy offroading and bumps? My phone screen cracked the other day with a magnetic mount so I just bought this and am looking for something heavy duty

If they have your phone/case combo, slipgrip mounts are pretty damn good. Combine that with a Ram mount and it's not going anywhere.

So I am leaning towards getting the DSM, since I really only need 1 phone mount. For those that have the DSM, are there any issues with vibration or sturdiness since it’s a shorter piece and doesn’t distribute the load as much as the DMM would?

The Dash Single Mount is the leftmost portion of the DMM with only a single RAM ball location. It uses the same holes as the DMM if you want to upgrade later.

Where would you plug the usb cable into to power it? would it be the stock usb slot that on the bottom?
