Is the OEM grill painted black or molded in texture?

It's painted black. Just bought one from my local dealer a few weeks ago after struggling with knockoffs for a few weeks. Would recommend even though it's more expensive

Did the dealer demand your VIN to see if you had a TRD Pro to begin with? Does the TSS sensor adapt and recalibrate itself to its no position comparrd
I’d probably get the OEM grill but then I’d kind of want to sell the grill off my TRD OR and I am hesitant to do that because I’ve heard the TSS sensor in the Off Road won’t work properly on even a real Toyota Pro grill and sensor plate because of the different position of the sensor. Maybe that’s BS.

Was your dealer willing to sell you one no questions asked or did he demand your VIN number to see if you had a real Pro?

Mine works fine, drove about 500 miles with the new grille/sensor location on and no issues or errors. OEM grille + OEM garnish on my OR.

Driven 1000 miles on OEM pro grill no issues with TSS whatsoever. On knockoffs I couldn't get 15 miles without a dash light. My dealer was super chill about it, I even told them I had a TRD sport right off the bat and they didn't care, still sold it to me.

You just got to make sure that the TSS is positioned correctly. I had to add an extra washer for mines to face directly straight..

Perfectly happy with my $99 knock off Pro grill and $40 knock off garnish for the TSS sensor. No issues with the sensor after adding washers to the sensor to change the angle.

How much did you give for it? If you don't mind me asking.

Steep. Grill and garnish came in at about $700. They sold to me at cost bc I have a buddy who works in parts at the dealership. But they said they sell the grill to people all the time for MSRP ($950 Including garnish)

Wait til they have the aftermarket garnish back in stock and just buy this. Had it on my truck for 13,000 miles now. Radar and collision warning still work as intended. Never displayed any errors.

Worth noting that the parts manager at my dealership informed me that they have tested most of the aftermarket models and that the issue isn't so much the garnish as it is the actual clips that hold the grill to the truck. They are looser on the knockoffs and make the whole grill move when driving, causing the TSS issues.

OEM grille & Garnish all good no issues. IMO buy OEM.

Not exactly coming from an unbias source. I believe the issue is actually due to changing the angle/placement of TSS sensor when adding the Pro grill. My aftermarket Pro grill is no looser than the stock grill, and after adjusting the angle of the TSS sensor with washers the TSS sensor error went away.

$700 vs $150....I think I'm sticking with my aftermarket grill and garnish.

Can someone tell me what the fix is? What thickness washers and should I tilt the sensor forward or backward if I get a TSS error?

Too steep for me. I was just curious haha.

If I ever did it I would probably go that route.

Yes it's a bias source but it's also a good friend of mine (not through the dealership, known the guy for years personally). Also I did notice the looseness in my knockoff grill, might depend on the manufacturer.
