    Steel heats up waaaay faster than aluminum in the direct sun. Aluminum does not get too hot actually. I would take aluminum over steel for a tailgate cap.

    I wanted to support a smaller startup business but after my experience would not recommend this company to a friend. They sent the wrong product. Website has no email or phone number, only an online message box. Sent them 3 messages with no response. Customer service is- not existent. Now I have 4ft cutting board in my closet. Recommend you go with another brand.
