Red loctite, a couple extensions and possibly a wobbly for your ratchet, take the lower shock bolt out and pull the shock body away from the shock tower so you can get your ratchet assembly behind the shock and tighten the nut from the top.

Gen 1, so the 11.5" travel ones. Its all I could fit under the bed with a decent shock angle

Nice. What springs are you using?

And looks like you just kind of sleeved the frame with some tubing. that's pretty cool. What size?

More or less, yeah. I cut the "bottom" of the frame out for the length I was replacing, and then welded the "top" and "outboard" side of the frame to the new tubing which is 2.5"x3.5" .188 (closest I could find to stock frame size locally). The result was a heavier, beefier frame behind the axle to hopefully help work the leafs better...

Cut 12" off the rear of the frame, and another 13" of the bottom to make room for the tubing
    IMG_5806.jpg

Inserted 25" length of square tubing and welded to remaining frame rail
    IMG_5808.jpg

This is correct, old F67, SUA, 12" shackles through the frame

Also, I still have extra of the tubing in case anyone wants to do something similar. I have no use for the rest now haha

Anyone have any tips for removing the front brake dust shields on a 1st gen? After my spindle gussets were burned on the shields rub against my rotors now- I tried bending them out but no luck... any advice is appreciated thanks!

I used tin snips for mine when I did the bbk. But yeah that’s the easiest and you’ll be able to keep some of its shielding properties.

otherwise you got to pull the hub out and remove it the correct way

Shortbed install (couple pages back): https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/lukecc’s-build-bs.620477/

If you have questions I can help, I have them off via drilling spot welds instead of cutting like Luke did

Edit: heres the spot weld method instructions from TLT (although I wouldnt use screw on the top of the bedsides like they did)

Thanks. I wasn't gonna put them on so soon but the more I stare at the bedsides the more I want to start cut spot welds off!

    Yes
When you do it spend a few bucks on a good spot weld cutter / spot weld drill bit and it will eat the spot welds like butter. That method they used in that article with a center punch and a regular drill bit is a huge waste of time.

Hey guys, first time posting. Thinking about buying a used long travel first gen tacoma. It looks like a sweet build but high milage. I was wondering if some of you could give me your opinions on this truck or anything to lookout for. It’s listed for 19k CAD. So about 14k USD. Here is the link Thanks,
    Tyler
