Used carbon fiber nylon before, pretty tough stuff...

 

I've yet to actually play with any filled filaments. How is the surface finish?

 

The Obj file was exported at the wrong settings so it had a bit of a faceted outcome. But it was far smoother than I expected.

 

are you forming sheet metal with that CF reinforced PC?

yes that is a 2" dimple die in 16 gauge mild steel.

 

I only use PLA for objects that will generally not see high heat or massive abuse. I use abs near exclusively on the truck. The only exception is the switch blanks in the dash which is pla or PETG... don’t remember which.

Right now I’m printing bookends for a friend (Star Wars themed). Printing it out of pla that I just want to get arid of. Once done, it’ll get a primer/filler coat, a light sanding, and then paint to hide the color(s) of the filaments.

Already starting on Christmas gifts. It’s a great time to burn through filament you don’t particularly care for lol.

over here I'm just learning and learning. Just did this print for my 4 year old. PLA Silk. I'm on a Quidi 3D Max. Quite stoked on it.

 

I'll post up some stuff.
I've made a few things for the truck, a seal driver for the front diff that not only holds the seal, but sets it at the correct dept too

 

any tips from you guys about printing with Nylon?

 

So this was printed using PETG with 20% infill, would printing it solid make any difference? Temps locally have been in the 80's, but I imagine in cab temps are much higher. Or is my solution to use ABS?

Abs or Asa should fix that. Petg will probably sag like that even if printed solid. That's what's nice about petg, great layer bond and flexibility. Abs is more rigid, but will snap sooner.

 

Of concern, had a part cooling fan melt last night. Maybe 50 degrees was too hot for it... We'll find out, I just threw another of the exact same fans in there...

Also made these stupid spare fuse holders to take up the wasted space on my new underhood panel:





That's just red paint brushed into grooves in my part, not anything fancy with the print.

And no, it's not the mainstream designer's emblem. It's my own. And I'm not about to change it for a no-talent ass-clown. Why should I, when he's the one who sucks?

Inland is just rebranded eSun, basically the same filament. I've been using eSun PLA+ exclusively now as far as PLA goes. 6000 meters on my Prusa and close to the same on my Ender 3 Pro. Did about a thousand face shields this year for hospitals and schools. I print at 205C hotend and 60C bed on both machines no issues other than the Ender is a constant tinkering headache and the Prusa is mostly hassle free. Ordered an Ender 3 V2 since I just want to throw the 3 Pro at a wall.

I print more now in eSun PETG on the Prusa. It's near perfect always, sticks to textured plate, parts don't warp in hot car and are more durable. No mods or enclosure needed other than the textured plate.

 

Filament finally got out of Fedex purgatory. Got to figure out a new roll holder... and then I'll print a console in this. Dark grey ASA.
