IDK we just call it camping LOL. Millitary then 17 years as Girl Scout leaders we just wanted something simple that wasn't a tent. I have to sleep with a CPAp so needed some power, solar runs everything. It's a nice base camp then we can explore but most time we just relax. This is kinda shit OP needs to consider also. Get out and go like everybody says, see what you need, have fun, relax, get things to make it easy and enjoyable. other than that build the truck however you like.

Exactly. I could have spent months building a bed rack just to find out I'd rather sleep on the ground.

I can't say as I've ever seen one in person, but it a) looks expensive, b) has a roof rack and an awning, c) the color will look great on your instagram account so yeah, it qualifies as overlanding. :anonymous:

Never been on Instagram i wouldn't have a clue. Rack came on it we don't use it Solar panels are on the roof. Awning is meant for a minivan or truck with a cap i adapted it because it's cheaper, and no it wasn't cheap but way cheaper than most.

    OG overlander mad respect lol.
Dodge grand caravan was top of the list for a overland rig but I couldn't pass on the ground clearance and AWD of the crosstrek.

If you’re talking the silnylon tipis, I elk hunt with that sort of tent/stove setup. But I wouldn’t want those if it’s warm or humid out or if moving every night. Time consuming to set up. Big footprint. Lots of condensation. But in the right circumstances, they’re really nice.

Do you ever use the inner bug tent setups for warm weather camping? My wife is all about having a floor so she doesn't like the tipi setup but for years now I've wanted one. Currently we are running a eureka 3 seasons 2 persons tent. We need to upgrade to something bigger.

The stow and go feature on the grand caravans is awesome. You can stow all the seats in like 5 mins. I have a friend that has built out a couple of expo vans.

What we used to call boondocking. Camping outside of organized camp grounds. No water, no toilets, just what you brung on whatever relatively flat spot you can find.
Personally, I don’t really call what some people do a boondocking. Heck they portable toilet, showers and even refrigerators. Not exactly “primitive” conditions.

I have two Kifaru tents and they don’t have bug screens or bug liner inner tents. Seek outside might make such a thing. So no experience. But where these tents really shine is when you need to backpack a big tent/stove combo in cool to cold conditions. The stove fixes the condensation issue, but i don’t want to do that if it’s 80 outside. I hate tent floors but as you know, wives require them. I kinda like 4 person double wall tents for camping with my wife. So like your eureka only bigger. I’m a tent junkie by the way.

Fridge. Most unnecessary necessity I own.

No more stops for ice, no more chocolate pudding, beer, and cheese flavored bacon slime, just cold items at any time.

Dodge's website is such a dumpster fire that I couldn't quickly tell if AWD was an option, but you could have (kinda sorta) fixed the clearance part (https://www.journeysoffroad.com/dodgegvlift.html_).:boink: I've actually seen a Toyota Sienna that had one of those kits and thought it looked pretty good for what the couple were using it for. I talked to them for a couple of minutes and they'd added the kit for dirt roads, some extra lift to get the back up while carrying a bike rack or towing their boat and to be able to add slightly larger tires that were a bot more aggressive than street tires (I don't recall what they had on it, I want to say some Yokohamas).

One of my cousins is out west right now in his 2012 Sienna and is thinking about trading it for an AWD model and adding a lift. The Sienna works great for their daily use and with a cargo box on top they like it for trips.

Nice I didn't see that in my research. I live in the same town as Quigley 4x4 but they cost $$$.

Anyway just got back from my OVERLANDING trip.
Id highly recommend this Coleman pop up grill.
