OR to TRD Pro Fox shocks impressions

A decent and well-designed suspension will preserve on road mannerisms well in proving and maintaining off-road capabilities. Unfortunately the factory suspension on the TRD off-road doesn't really do any of that well

 

Anyone know where I can find Trd pro fox suspension. Buy sell trade still wont let me post.

 

Check all the social media sites. People buy pro's just to take the suspension off and put aftermarket stuff on all the time!

Yea not enough posts yet. But Ive been checking fb and Craigslist like crazy and no luck sadly. Bought 2020 off road suspension with only 500 miles on them that I still have but i decided i definitely want that trd pro fox setup

 

Anyone here gone from sport suspension to the trd pro suspension?
Would like to hear your experience since most of the reviews are coming from people with OR (bouncy/plush feel)

 

Is it possible that the reason the TRD OR shocks are smaller and wimpier than true Bilstein 4600s just so they could make the Fox shocks on the Pro look more appealing?

Rather than outfit the OR with true Bilstein 4600 shocks they have Bilstein build a smaller version to broaden the gap between OR and Pro. It makes sense to me. Make the Bilsteins cheaper rather than make the Foxes more expensive.

 

Nah, the pro is a pretty niche market. Most people think the offroad suspension is just fine, your seeing a very small group of owners on this site compared to the total trucks sold.

 

I went from sport susp to pro, you can def feel a difference, turn in is better also feels stiffer.

 

Hows it been on the highway and over bumps? My roads where I live are pretty jagged so im hoping this will fix the harsh bumps I hit on my daily drives.

 

The off-road Bilsteins will be more plush than the pro Fox, by a lot. If you are looking for on-road comfort on poor pavement that’s the way to go. The compression damping on the pro shocks is very aggressive and you’ll feel the bad pavement.

The pro Fox allow an acceptable but firm ride on road, with the ability to go lots faster off-road without bottoming out. They really shine when the road ends. Watch the Toyota videos on the Pro series with the trucks flying over whoops in the desert - The progressive damping gets even more firm as suspension travel approaches the bump stop to prevent bottoming. Huge holes and rocks that would make me brace for impact on my old SR5 are handled like a Mercedes with a controlled absorption and no drama.

But tree roots that have cracked the pavement on my street are felt much more than my old SR5. I never knew the bumps were there till I bought the Pro!

 

What BadMagDog said above, you can def feel every bump on the road. If you can get a good deal i'd say go for it, but brand new you might as well buy aftermarket bilstein or fox

 

Upgraded from OR to Pro! Night & day difference, Just feels x2 stronger. 1” gained in front. Recommend only if can find good used price 800-1200ish

 

I’m putting mine on this Thursday, going from sport to pro can’t wait to feel the difference. Gonna break em in on a 4 hour drive after I get them installed

 

I'm interested to feel and see the difference from SR to PRO, once I have them installed..

 

I’m going from Sport suspension on my long box which has 46,000km, to some 2020 TRD Pro suspension I snagged that has 500km. Hopefully can get it installed over the next couple weeks.

 

Rear takes like 5 minutes to do, front is where the work is.

 

Quick question. Does your upper control arm move laterally? Mine moves enough to feel, wondering if it's normal.

I don't believe so. I will have to check tho. Seeing your video worries me now.

 

Cool. I just held the camera and had my wife let off the brake then quickly apply it a couple of times in the driveway. That's all it takes to make them move.

I have an appt at the dealership to have it looked at next weekend.
