I'm thinking that they are just waiting for the CARB certification to clear. Red tape and all of that.

I wonder how much the Atkinson/Otto cycle engine in our trucks complicates things?

Magnuson updated the link for the calibration files on their site.

They're asking questions about tire sizes, performance mods, gear ratios - seems like a pretty complex tune they'll provide.

Thanks just clicked the link and saw the link questionnaire they have. Wonder how much they will differ and if they will let you try out different tunes regardless of your specific setup, kind of like OVtune.

Still impatiently waiting for the Dyno charts :annoyed:.

I just got back from another CO trip and up at 10k-12k feet in elevation I couldn’t stop thinking about how much help the truck needs in the lower rpms. Especially at elevation where you lose power anyway. Im hoping they offer a tune too that helps put the power in those specific areas. :fingerscrossed:

I was in CO (Ouray, Telluride area) last week too towing my camper (1700lb pop-up) and the truck was struggling up at those elevations.

My choice between OVT twin turbos and the SC will come down to low-end torque around 2000rpm so that I can cruise in 5th at least.

Ouray and Telluride are beautiful, I stay in Silverton but drop in those towns from the passes. I also went to Creede this year for a few days, which was awesome too, but used my enduro mainly there as I enjoyed some
Of the narrow trails and single track the area offered.

I’m with you on the low end torque too. 4th/5th/6th year we’re practically useless on any grade at elevation. I think I remember seeing one OVT TT dyno chart that showed max torque at like 2200rpm, that would be incredible. If magnuson is anything above 3kish, I’m out. I’m already disappointed that for more months they said 50% increase in torque and hp on their website just to update it last week and only show 30%, for a mere 67 torque gain :/

I wonder who is doing the calibration. I also wonder if they are using the VF Pro software.

I’ll wait a year or two after release to see durability.

OV 93 tune, TRD pro intake, LED headlights, LED interior lights, tuffskinz interior overlays "RCF", tailgate inlay, Illuminated kickplates, blue interior compartment inlays. Painted voodoo blue interior trim, nitto ridge grapplers, bara 1 inch spacers, redline pro hood struts, trd oil and radiator caps.

Not really upset about it tbh. They have their own in house product they want to sell, why endorse or support someone elses. Thats like buying a dodge demon and taking it over to shelby/ford performamce division and saying "tune this for me". They will look at you funny, point at a GT500 and say your at the wrong manufacture. I know tuners arent like that exactly, but most tuners "at least for the cars ive owned" dont make their own in house turbo and SC kits. Tuners that dont make their own stuff can be whores for every car under the sun because they dont have to worry about pushing their own product and supporting a competitor.

Its a TVS1900 in a Magnuson kit. Durability (as well as post purchase customer service) will be fantastic.

100% turbo if that's the case. It'll be no contest.

I forgot to clarify. Durability of the engine. Also, it gives me time to save up that 6.5$

The installation is pretty straight forward and can be done in a weekend. If you have a shop do it then yes it will cost extra

Got this information from Magnuson when I sent a request for information:".....our calibration process will be very similar to the PV process. We will provide instructions on the process and are in the works with making a video to go over it all that will be posted to the website."

I run OVTune (4.88's, stock tires, and TRD Pro Catback) and the last thing I want to lose or change with Magnuson's "calibration" is the shifting logic - OVTune's efforts have fixed the drunk monkey shifting Toyota released the auto transmissions with. I will simply accept and live with a under powered truck before I lose the advantages OVTune has provided. If Magnuson gets the CARB and does not mess with the shifting logic I'll be doing the install in my garage.

I would **assume** that with OVT's VF Tuner we can still update just the transmission tables as desired or use the shifting logic from one of his tunes.

I got a call from Magnuson earlier today since I put my name on the list for updates. They said they're planning a release in the fall and would following up with people in about 6 weeks to start taking orders.

At this time the guy I talked to said they don't have dyno charts ready to release yet.
I also asked about tuning and he wasn't sure what system they're using yet. He did say that they have a variety of trucks being tested now with different combos of gears, tire sizes, and weights.

FWIW, I did see a chart on a manual transmission, stock tires/wheels, where it made ~315 hp at the wheels.
