Yes sir. Had No concerns with the bikes on it yesterday testing it out an tinkering around cleaning my chain/chainring. Really solid stand i think. In the reviews if i remember correctly i think people have just said they didnt like how the clamp was plastic or something? But it doesnt really seem like a concern to me.

Good to know. I think the bottom of the line park tool one is like 80lbs capacity? But also more like 200$ or so.

Have you tested working on the bike at the higher settings of the stand? Is it stable?

I have an old spin dr stand that doesn’t go up very high. Huge pain in the ass. It’s also not very balanced when holding the bike by the seat post. Which is pretty much mandatory with a lot of modern frame designs. I’m cautious of the two leg stands now because of how unstable the one I have is, but I’m ready to replace it ASAP.

I also need to finally invest in some torque wrenches for bike range values. The ‘goodntight’ elbow value was great, but it’s time to get the right tools.

THIS is the one I have, it was cheaper in 2017 but has served me well.

I got one of those preset 5nm ones, good for small stuff but I also need an adjustable one. some of the cheaper ones don’t have the best reviews though.

Yea I’m not looking to spend tons on pro level tools. But I’m not looking for elcheapo either. Preferably that happy medium of quality and value, if it exists.

Realistically I take my rides to the shop and let the actual mechanics do the majority of the wrenching. I just do the basics and general maintenance at home myself.

You'll be happy with it, has a nice durable case which has lasted just fine for the last three years in the truck.

I was visiting last winter and I saw what looked like a new bike park just outside of downtown.

There are two in the area:
Eagle Bike Park which is about 30 minutes from downtown Boise. This has XC trails and more elevation change than the Military Reserve Bike Park.
Bike Park in Military Reserve which is about half a mile from downtown (and basically directly behind my house in the Northend). This basically a fancy, professionally built jump park and pump track.

That little tray is worth the money alone. I wish my Park Tool had that.

Finally got to spin my legs for the first time in a month yesterday. Took the ole frankenbike fishing and didn't catch a damn thing. Shoulder is still tender but getting better - I am sure it will feel great for a 40+ mile rafting trip this weekend

No, that shot was up around Estes. Trying to beat the heat I rode several miles up there then came down later in the day and hit Bobcat. They forecasted rain for yesterday and I never saw any.

    not enough.
I have that one! For the money it's pretty good I'd say. it's not super stable sometimes but it works pretty well. But I also overload it sometimes with my commuter bike which weighs 66 pounds with battery so.... :anonymous:

Can't tell if that's sarcasm or not, but either way, I realize my comments were a bit snarky. As a newbie getting into it, nobody needs to feel like a dumbass. We all make dumb mistakes at first.
As for the fork and tokens, for your weight and travel, I'd start with 2. There's two tests I do to check if that's right; one is to ride at a decent clip and slam the front brake (careful not to go over the bars, so maybe work up to it), your sag ring (little rubber o-ring on the fork tubes) should be about 3 fingers from the top. The second test is to hit the biggest drop you would feel comfortable doing. Your sag ring should leave about 1 finger's worth of travel left. You want the last little bit for those 'oh-shit' moments and you need that last little bit to save your ass in case you land nose-heavy.
Suspension tuning is all about preference. Most riders with your mass run stiffer pressure to keep the fork from blowing through its travel quickly. That also gives you confident dynamic riding geometry, keeping the bike more slack during steeper descents.
As for the brake line, man I've done it too. Just something you do once, someone points it out, and don't do again. The reasoning behind that is protection of the line from a fall. Don't want to get stuck without a front brake if you take a spill and it gets cut.
