6,000 miles so far on my '19 m/t and my best tank has been 22mpg. Usually I get 17-19mpg driving mix of freeway and city. My last road trip, 600miles, with the truck at full capacity (4 people and 1 dog in the cab and the bed fully loaded) I got 16mpg @80mph w/20mph headwinds.
I calculate my mpg based on fill up not the computer.

My 2020 Sport 4x4 is averaging 19.8 mpgs. My last two tanks were just over 21 mpg, though that was majority highway miles. I'm expecting those numbers to drop a bit now that I added 265/70-17 tires this past weekend.

I’ve averaged 18-21mpg in DFW with mixed driving. Most of the highways I use are 70mph so that tends to keep me below the 24mpg highway estimate.

Let me save you guys some headaches... If you're not towing anything and drive civilized, no mods, you'll get the sticker MPG.... anything beyond these perimeters will significantly decrease your MPG at which point you A.) expect it B.) Now you know and shouldn't care

Took 3,500mi trip out west to MT and back, averaged 24-25mpg.

Daily commute and everyday life, I generally see 20-21mpg.

My drive is super early in the morning and does not involve any highway driving, so with no traffic with the traffic lights on my side and the speed limit no higher than 50, I'm able to get around 26 mpg or so.

I have had the same experience. Flat, windless drives with no stop lights and I can 27, even 28 MPG on occasion (on-board calculator). The truck is relatively efficient below 60 MPH.

That means you are getting infinite MGP for you commute. To get 0 you would need to turn the truck on and not go anywhere.

Btw, the gas prices are down prices because no is going anywhere :). There is a surplus of gas.

I get around 16-18 in the city (after the engine and tranny reaches operating temp) and 21-24 on highway (flat road and if there is not tail or head wind).

On highway, to me it feels like going 5mph faster reduces mpg by roughly 1. For example, I get 22mpg at 70mph, and 24mpg at 60mph. You can probobly get a little higher if you go at 45-50mpg, but that doesnt make sense for highway driving under most conditions.

Yeah, I am lucky my commute to work is a straight 7-mile shot at 55 MPH and then a series of traffic signals at 35 MPH for 4 miles. MPG can very from 23 to 28 on that trip in the summer. Everything takes a crap in the winter.

I have a 2020 OR 4x4 AT and I get 16-17 city and 18-19 hwy. I'm wondering if the folks who report 20mpg+ live in places with 55mph or 60mph speed limits and few hills?

The 22mpg highway is a weighted average that takes into account the 10mpg you will get bringing to truck up to speed and passing through a few redlights before you can hit a continuous economical speed on a highway. My impression is that the “Trip MPG” on the trucks computer is optimistic. Or at least, like any other low cost mass produced measuring instrument, has an accuracy of +/- 3% to 5%.

I average just a hair over 22mpg per the 2nd tank I’ve run on my new TRD OR with mixed and highway driving. That’s me measuring when I filled it up again yesterday having really topped off the tank as much as possible at the same exact station and pump. Computer said trip average was 23.2 mpg. This is with careful in town speed management (IE taking your foot off the gas waaaaay before you get to a light that just turned yellow up ahead) and “highway” driving on state roads where I was able to cruise at 58mph.

On the long drive down from NC where I picked my truck up, I averaged over 24mpg continuous gas mileage, but I was varying my speed between 45 and 60mph as I believe in sticking to the engine break in period. Again, that’s me topping off the tank at an interstate gas station in NC, and measuring how many gallons it took 200 miles later at another interstate gas station. No stops and careful acceleration management in between. I can’t say what pump accuracy played into this number but you know those greedy bastards make sure they aren’t giving you anything for free so if anything my mpg was slightly better. Being an engineer I’m kind of anal about my methodology.

My GMC Canyon 4X4 that I traded in was similar. Its actual continuous hwy gas mileage was confirmed multiple times by measuring to be over 27 mpg with summer blend gas and keeping to 60mph, and EPA rating was just 24 mpg. My 2020 Tacoma seems a little better in town than the Canyon though, as the GMC truck would idle at 1100 rpm when the transmission was in “D” and sitting at a stoplight. Not sure if this is normal or an issue with the truck. The Taco seems to idle at the same RPM in either drive or neutral……850 – 900 RPM. 22mpg give or take was what I got with my GMC too.

I find that trying to hypermile is one of the fun aspects of driving a cool looking 4X4 like this.

Ive owned the truck since it had 2K on the clock, about a year and 9 months, and I use the "Mileage Keeper" app which I've accounted for every fill up, my 19 gets exactly 20.7 with my...ehh...60/40 hwy/city driving.
