Lost five trees in my yard, power has been out since 4pm yesterday, my town is a freaking disaster area, and then this happened at 7pm last night. Everyone is ok. We are running off of a generator but I don't see getting power back at least until tomorrow maybe Saturday.

We got lucky in my area; dodged most of the big wind and heavy rain. Had a few squalls but nothing bad. Power flickered but never went out. Big waves on the lake, though. Glad I pulled the boat out Monday afternoon instead of letting her ride it out tied to the dock.

Was at the grocery store when the power dropped. What an adventure that was. We ended up with two poop floats from god knows where, too. Otherwise just some leaves in my yard, we really got lucky.

powers out at work. Today was day 15 so I could go back  so I have my computer but all the network drives are local and down. Have calls until 930 then grabbing my saw and dog and heading out to our trails. She gets the exercise and I’ll clear out anything that fell and crossed the paths.

@m603holden even in a city like providence/EP I’m understanding the power of HAM and other amateur radio frequencies. Let alone in the boonies.

Lake George isn't camping, it's a theme park! Yes, there is serious remote, actual primitive camping all over the Northeast, just need to find it.

@Noelie84 I am actually going to be at Black Brook at the end of the month.

Nice. We're going to try and get up there the weekend of the 15th for the Perseid shower, probably Saturday-Monday.

Yup. It's pretty sweet. Need to find the storm watch nets as well.

If you really want to dive into the deep end and get yourself rocking, pick one of these up. I can give you a wire for it you can put around a room in your house and you can RX everything. Local stuff and around the world. Or Jamin 94.5fm

Plugs into your computer or you can get a $35 raspberry pi and use it on your TV.

I didn't lose power yesterday, but I have a little APC 550 and it'll run the cable modem and router for about an hour and a half.

I bought it about 10 years ago and somehow the battery is still okay. Meanwhile, the 1500 and 3000 units I have in my MDF and IDF rooms at work seem to go through batteries every 4 years.

    @Rexfordian13

Thanks much appreciated. But I’m going to have to say no for now. A I need to get my tech and general first. B I want to focus on getting the truck first. C I will probably wait to do home stuff until we know that we are or are not moving and then do it after the move.

pool. But yeah I’m not gonna edit my post I’ll just leave it.

anyone up for R.I. spot maybe Friday mid day? Woke up to a text from HR. Plant has no power and servers are down. If that happens again tomorrow, I’m going to bank a vacation day Friday. I’m not going in for one day after 4 weeks out the day before a long weekend.

Lost power yesterday afternoon. For some sourdough starter from a buddy this past weekend and put it to use. Baked some discard crackers yesterday, and started a loaf of sourdough that just finished cooking. Basically iron chef up in here. 20200805_104452.jpg

For the Adirondacks I am only familiar with the National Park and backpacking the high peaks (highly recommended). I can give you some advice for more primitive camping in VT, NH and ME though if you need that.

Thanks for the offer Rob. We are pk, and that is all that matters. I have a chainsaw and just put in an insurance claim so we will see how it goes. I am going to pm you about a quick question though...

Damn, from the picture it looks like it didn't do any damage. Roof? Glad all good. Let me know if you need another set of hands, though. Unlikely work will be on for tomorrow, and if that happens I'm taking Friday off.

yea it was behaving a little flaky...I want to test it some...I only really use this one to keep the pellet stove running when we have quick power dips/outages so the fire can extinguish and vent the smoke with the blower.

    Any suggestions?
    Have a Stihl BR420 now that’s showing it’s age.
