Since we're talking head options - I took mine to a local head shop. They went through it top to bottom and fixed it all up for $427, which is cheaper than buying a re-man, and its a head I know the history of.

I got a china casting, super cheap, and had a local head shop put all my oem components in and shim it up to spec. The shop checked the china casting for porosity/casting warp, and flatness at the mounting surface and it was absolutely fine. That head was great afterward, it was perfect even with boost.

Till it stops? In my case the PO did a head gasket job cause that's what he thought it was and didn't inspect the head at all.. he then @#$%ing PERMATEXED the head gasket to the block! Which filled all the coolant passages with goop and starved it of oil. It 'died' on him after about 2500miles and thats when I swooped in and bought it. Turns out the jackass didn't clip the wiring harness (that runs above the exhaust manifold) back into its mounts the harness dropped and burnt up on the manifold. I half-assed fixed it and drove it another 3-5 k running like total shit before i did a leak down test and realized I was loosing all my air out of the exhaust side of cyl 3. I thought I just had a burnt valve and pulled the head which is when I learned of the crack between the 2 exhaust valves and the permatex nightmare.

I've got probably 2.5k on my motor now after a complete rebuild
