I’ve lived an hour from asheville all my life and I’ve never heard it called a tech town. You need to go to RDU for that.

The surrounding area is hard to beat...I have a close friend from HS that is trying to move that way from MI, as they're over the Ann Arbor winters...she's more focused on the brewery aspect, which tends to be in lockstep with some of these "P"rogressive cities.

My wifes college best friend lives in Asheville, and we (pre baby) would go down for concerts and fall hiking outings, I won't lie, much like areas of RVA, it was nice being able to walk from the home to a breakfast place has it appeal...at least when visiting for a long weekend or whatever.

Lots of startups and stuff heading that way. I see at least 11 dev jobs that I am easily more than qualified for. Stuff I am stuck going towards Princeton, Philly or NYC for up here.

My dream is to live in the mountains, but I need to be able to live in the mountains and make money, so seems like I would be happy here.

Sorry to derail the thread @EatSleepTacos :p I'll go browse realtor.com and continue living in this fantasy I hope to accomplish in the next couple of years.

Pretty much. The land is part of an inheritance. Fortunately, it's being used for something else as I would never live there or even build a house on it.

No doubt. You might want to get the headlight fluid checked to. Just to be safe.

Or you could just take them off permanently. Mud flaps are useless.

Would irony be the correct word? Randy hates the beach, but joined the Navy? The military branch that is more likely to station you near a beach.
