Illuminated Ignition Ring Mod

Cool deal then. Toyota has their shit together.

 

Just did this mod and love it! I followed @Toy4me on post #304 method because I didn't want to buy any connectors and crimp them. Here are my steps:

• Sourced the illuminated ring for the years of vehicles from @ramonortiz55 post #234 and bought a 2011 Camry Ignition switch w/ Immobilizer on eBay
• Stole the ring and pigtail from this assembly
• Extracted the connectors w/ wire for two of the ones from pins 2-6 that will fit in the Tacoma connector for illumination(this was difficult - had to use a sharp point and poke through the housing to press down the locking points on the connectors while pulling them from the back to get them out)
• Followed directions from the first post with pdf on steps to remove installed ring
• Soldered longer wire onto both wires that were extracted from pigtail for (+) and (-) illumination
• Followed the pdf all the way to the end and everything works great! Hopefully I can sell the rest of the Camry assembly and old ring to net out the mod, we'll see...

Random question. But seeing as this deals with ignition and I recently installed a 12volt solutions remote start kit, will this affect that I’m any way ? Thanks

 

The remote start and this ignition ring light are 2 completely separate systems.
