Hey Connecticut, our everything hurts

Already cleaned up the big sticks; mowed the lawn and used the blower to clear the driveway and the road in front of my house. Done by 830 and logged on working from home.

Still without power. Trees down all over town. Not too many know that when traffic lights are out = a stop sign...

 

I cut cable/satellite 2 years ago. Bought a Firestick and down loaded a few apps. Tons of free stuff to watch, I only pay for high speed interwebs....never going back

 

No power loss here in my area of Newington. I trimmed up a lot of dead branches and limbs close to the house a few weeks back so that was timely. Just a couple small branches on the yard I’ll get to later today and toss in the fire pit.

 

UPS was good to me today. Shocks should be here tomorrow. I was told yesterday that they shipped direct from arb late last week.

Ive always wanted to build a decent wheeling rig. The itch started when I had my Jeep but i was a kid and couldn't afford it at the time. I have lived vicariously through my older brother with his built toyota pickup (solid axle swapped and the whole shabang). Ive had this truck a number of years now and have wanted to build it out since I first got it. Stoked that its finally happening.

 

Cut up the two trees that were down. Only damaged to the shed is a broken gutter. My aunt and uncle came over to help, along with my cousin, and my mom. Cousin took all the logs for firewood, and coming back tomorrow to grab a few small ones left. Also blew off my entire yard. All that's left to do is tinker with the tree stump/roots where the dish is, and hopefully get it back in place to re-use and run a new wire. We shall see if it really works like I have planned.

 

It’s a guarantee that you’ll have to repoint the dish. They are pretty finicky on aim. If your system looks at multiple satellites, you’ll have to set azimuth, elevation, skew (left/right, up/down, twist of dish)

 

Once I get it back up, just going to call them to come out and see.

 

Morning all. Another day running off of the generator

 

Wow, I'm surprised they don't have you all back on. Maybe with the storm going up the east coast there emergency crews are stretched.

You guys are really making me rethink the priority a generator has on my "to buy" list.

 

I feel blessed to still have power. My dad is over a town and no one has power there. My wifes grandma is another town over and its the same story.

Tried finding gas for the wifes outback last night since she let it go to e. My towns stations ran out; and the next town over has no power so their gas stations are closed.

Crazy times. And they say its going to be the busiest hurricane season since 05 (Katrina, Wilma.)

We have a big ass generator but never had to use it in our 6 years where we are. Happy we have it on hand though just in case. Since we aren't using it, I brought it to my dads so he can keep his food cold.

Ran for about 5 hours the other day

 

Morning everyone. Happy Friday eve.

Still no power, so another night at the in-laws. Hearing from the first selectman that it'll be 3-4 days for us.

 

That thing is the cats ass. Inverter technology must make it nice and quiet as well as fuel efficient. I have a Honeywell 7500 running watts. Great machine (made by Generac) but noisy as all get out. Decent on fuel but in reality I need to have 10+ gallons on hand for a 24 hour period.

Anything is better than nothing. It's nice having an ice cold beer with my burger last night; TV/internet/lights; warm shower this morning.

 

Final pieces for the suspension arrived today. Thank you Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road for your patience with my questions and for all of your help !

 

Drove to Sherwood Isle with the kids, only to find out it was closed.

Wife decided to make us go back home through Redding, which I said would be a bad idea. Yep, it was. About half way we had to go all the way back to Westport, to go a different way home. Bridgeport Zoo was also closed, so we couldn't even do that.

We have cancelled 2 camping trips to the beach in RI this summer . We are trying to figure out where to go just to get out of town for a couple days . This COVID really fucking everything up
