All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I have owned several PWs. The little one is great as long as you don’t leave it outside lol

I was driving 575 southbound last Friday just south of exit 27 and saw three Tacos together heading north, all loaded up for adventure. Who is responsible for that much awesome on the highway at once?

I got the GreenWorks 2000psi electric PW from Lowe's when they were on sale for $180. Can't complain. I've cleaned the cars, our stone front porch, and sidewalk with ease.

Solid choice. Likely my next truck purchase.

I might think of you a traitor if Toyota had a comparable offering. Sadly, the Tundra just doesn't hold a candle to the F150 right now. It's hard to want a Tundra when the comparable sized trucks are getting significantly better gas mileage with more power and higher tow ratings.

How’s the reliability of the newish Tundra’s compared to the F150s? I went the route of looking at new trucks couple years ago when I got my Taco. The part that I didn’t like was the value depreciation I can sell my taco in ten years for about what I bought it for; who knows how the new f150 or Ram will hold their value in a decade. That being said recently looking at campers and the possibility of a second car seat behind me driving has me thinking I will need more truck/SUV in next couple years. I started comparing the Sequoia but it’s towing capacity is insufficient.

You are spot on, 5.0, 10 speed tranny, highest available gearing 3.73, largest rear end 9.75", it is built with everything I wanted and none of the extra stuff I don't. And I drove 170 miles yesterday and averaged 21mpg.

Heard of issues with the eco boost, not really sure though. I got the V8 so good there, as far as value you can't beat a Tundra or Tacoma, on the other hand I picked that one up used 2018 with 24k miles for 27k, so not too worried about depreciation.

Same thoughts here. Since you bring up 3 points, I'll try to address those individually. I will only compare to Ford since that is the only other mfg that I have any direct knowledge.

    Resale value:
It is not an arguable fact that Toyota's hold their value better than most any other manufacturer, but that does not necessarily hold true across all models. The 4Runner holds its value better than any other SUV, and the Tacoma better than any other truck. I read that on multiple sites back when I was interested in comparing. I am definitely going off old data, but I don't feel like the market has changed that much in that time. Sure, trucks like the Colorado and Ranger have been introduced; and I feel like the Ranger is going to steal quite a bit of the market, but they don't have the proven reliability or dedicated following of the Tacoma (or 4Runner for that matter). Even cars like the Camry hold value quite well, but those are comparable in things like fuel efficiency.

Now let's switch focus to the full size truck (or SUV) market. The Tundra, Sequoia and Land Cruiser are all still powered by the ultra-reliable 5.7L V8 that gets a dismal 13 mpg city and an equally dismal 18 mpg hwy. Mixed driving, I think, is somewhere around 15 mpg. To my knowledge, there have been no improvements to that motor in 10 years or so. By comparison, Ford introduced the EcoBoost sometime about 10 years ago and it has made its way into just about everything they sell from the Mustang up to the Expedition Max. I heard a member on TW a few month back who switched from a Tacoma to a Tundra complain that he was not stuck in the Tundra because the trade in value was so poor compared to his purchase price. I believe his words were something to the effect of "this thing is a dinosaur and everybody knows it. because of that, no one wants to take on in on trade."

    Reliability:
I kind of touched on that already. Ford has been using the ecoboost engine for a decade now and have introduced different variants that are in most of their vehicles. They have worked out the kinks. Anything that goes wrong should happen and be fixed within the warranty period. There is no question about the reliability of the Toyota though. They can still have issues; but again, those should be found and fixed during the warranty period.

    Family hauler:
We just went through this. We are now a family of 5 and 3 car seats in a 4Runner just wasn't happening comfortably. We wanted a Land Cruiser, but they are pricey. We decided to settle for a Sequoia, but even the CPO models were a bit of a financial stretch. So we looked for a Sienna and ended up with an Odyssey. For the same price, the Honda just had more innovation. Unfortunately, that innovation meant problems and we traded that piece of crap for an Expedition. Before arriving at the Expedition conclusion, we tried our hardest to justify the Sequoia but just couldn't do it. The gas mileage and initial cost were both less than desirable. ~$60k for something that gets 13-18mpg was a hard pill to swallow. Ford was clearing out 2019 inventory and was doing factory incentives in the neighborhood of 20% off. Sure, I had to drive to South Carolina to find one in stock, but I saved $12k on the initial purchase and we average about 19 mpg. The best I've gotten on the highway was 24, but that is usually more like 21 mpg hwy. Not to mention that we were able to easily fit 3 cars eats in the middle row and have a 3rd row. FWIW, we opted to get the bench 2nd row. The middle seat comes out with 6 bolts and creates captains chairs. We have since removed the middle bench seat and put our oldest in the way back.

So even if the resale is lower down the road, and I don't see how it could be, we will have saved the difference in initial purchase price and fuel consumption over the years. Another FWIW, we try to keep each vehicle at least 10 years.

Nice, that’s a great sweet spot for mileage and price.A couple years ago the used ones in the under 40k mileage range were damn near the same price as a new one when I compared financing/total cost. Also I was having my first kid and just bought a house so I went low to upgrade later. I actually didn’t know I was getting a Tacoma but round one that had been meticulously maintained that I couldn’t pass up, no regrets it’s awesome for 95% of the time but I’m little over 6 ft tall and not sure m I’m going to fit with a car seat behind me. Have fun with it!

    For what it’s worth I own a RCSB tundra with a 4.6
It’s numbers are not impressive in comparison, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. A short bed 2 door tundra,!who doesn’t want that. With carpet delete and manual windows and locks. Lol
