I run into the same thing with a couple of beach cruisers and having to use the seatpost. My Torker is a TTT so I have to use the down tube or seat post with that as well.

My little tip, use a piece of pipe insulation on each side of the clamp so as to protect the bike finish

Haha Jackass, the one I just ordered will be my 5th one I’ve owned. I’ve got a 150mm Kashima on my bike now, just replacing it with the 2021 175mm

Yeah. it's the non-heavy duty one. Definitely pushing the limit sometimes. you do have to be careful when you take off a wheel while the bike is clamped, sometimes it likes to tilt. But it's manageable.

 True story. Unexpectedly got on a leaderboard somewhere and felt like a boss. Especially since I beat out a buddy of mine who's an avid racer. I'm sure he'll take my place soon.

Got my 1up Super Duty a week ago. Really wish I had bought this thing sooner. Top notch. I understand why everyone praises them so often.

welcome. you are now one of us. your first mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go ride your bike. this message will not self destruct in 5 seconds because TW and forums don't work like that. We really should rethink our message system guys...

I've got two local legend segments and I feel like a boss. With being the local legend, you might think I have a top time too - Nope.

If I understand "local legend" correctly..it just means you've ridden that segment the most within like the last 2 or 3 months, right? You must really like certain segments. ;P

Does it count if this picture was taken moments before I took it off the rack and went for a ride?

Yeah, last 90 days. The one's I'm local legends to are segments on the way to trail heads from my front door. 2-4 rides a week there adds up quickly.

Also looking to get a tailgate pad, sounds like the Race Face may be the way to go? A local guy is giving me a Bomber Strap, but after watching some reviews, I'm not sure it's gonna work out. But he is giving it to me for free so I'll give it a shot at least before I pull the trigger on buying a full pad.

Congrats! Please tell me you didn’t rotate both tires to match the Maxxis logos in the same position. ;)

I lined the logos up with the valve stem when I installed and I rotated them to the bottom to air up. I didn't notice it til you said something

When I first switched to clipless I was riding with XC and cyclocross racer types in the PNW. Time was the recommendation based on mud clearance, easy in/out, float, and durability. After years riding a set I can vouch for all that stuff. I haven't looked for pedal in a while, but maybe the biggest downside was lack of pedal options including bigger platforms and neat low profile designs compared to what is available in SPD. My wife struggled with SPDs (even the easy release cleats) and felt better on Times right away.
