Im not sure but if u search online it sounds like it’s for 2016, 2017 trucks. 2018 and up I don’t think have issues but I could be wrong.

My Tacoma is the 2017... It already has the peeling. I'm worried now it's going to start spreading to the top part of the passenger door next. :(

My 2017 is Texas built and doesn't have any signs of flaking yet. I did have rust poking through the spot welds on the bed behind the cab. Took a little arm twisting but they fixed that.

It was still under warranty when they fixed the spot welds.

Mine just started the other day, searched and found this thread. Contacted corporate via website contact form.

can we possibly make this a sticky and rename it so we can compile all of us having issues?

maybe list your location and mileage and a picture

For you guys that are having this issue, I’d trade it now before it gets worse if Toyota isn’t going to do anything about it. Trade it while it’s still worth good money and get another color or another truck all together.

I never knew this. So all the super whites technically don’t have your typical 2nd stage which is a clear coat

Not many dealers will give good money for peeling paint though and you will have to spend extra for a new truck. It sucks but paying to fix it may well be cheaper.

I was thinking more along the lines of selling the truck as soon as you start to see it happen. In its early stages, I doubt dealers are going to think much of it. If it gets out of control though, thats where you have a big problem.

Yep single stage the clear is blended into the white from what someone said, love super white, but mine were also very thin and susceptible to chipping.

Yeah its embarrassingly thin. My younger brothers 06 accord commuter has a tougher white paint job, come to think of it my 07 camry had shitty paint too go figure.

They should move the paint shop to China. I bet they could hire 12 year olds to paint with arsenic and lead for pennies a day. Just like everyone else seems to do.

It seems like the Mexico trucks are suffering the most peeling! Can we do a survey on this post to see how many are made in Mexico? Click LIKE if your truck was made in Mexico. Or if someone knows how to make a survey that would be interesting!

I just purchased a 2020 sr in super white, hoping something like this issue has been resolved but you never know. Have any of you had the idea of getting the truck wrapped to protects the paint? I know they have some decent clear vinyl wrap nowadays that could maybe help from rock chips and other paint peeling situations. If anyone has info on the quality and protection of a vinyl wrap I’d love to hear your opinions and thoughts

A few 18's and 19s have reported it as well and my 15 had it, typical toyota, let's not REALLY fix it, maybe it'll go away on its own (I.E. rotting frames).

Got a call today from my local Toyota dealership and they approved to repaint both rear doors and front left fender at no cost to me. But, there is catch. Going to take 10 days and they will not provide me a loaner car. Cool they are trying to fix it but 10 days with no loaner car? Now I have to figure out a rental for 10 days etc. Keep fighting, Obviously they know it’s an issue.
