This is awesome.. If theres any disabled vets here or you know of any they can learn to hang glide, paraglide, or take a tandem for free at these parks! Im working to see if the one in New Hampshire is offering it as well since theyre owned by Kitty Hawk.

Ive been hang gliding for 20 years, its the best:rolleyes:

I missed an opportunity to see it in person too.
When i was in Kuwait they picked up a russian Heli, but it was on night shift.
That would have been a experience to remember doing Transient Alert for that monster.

where i live i have a clear view of most of the air traffic coming and going out of the local airport. noise doesn't bother me really...got used to the various engines of commercial, private, smaller craft ages ago. we dont get much military traffic so the one thing that gets my attention is the jets. occasionally a herc will come through...that's about the biggest thing i've seen locally. caught a C-17 doing touch and goes in Jackson, WY a while back and I thought that was a big beast. never seen an antonov but i'd love to one day.

amazing how anything that big and that slow can get airborne.

    Just the basics
Having lived near KLGB most of my life, and socal all my life, I've bene fortunate to have seen many different types. Saw the Antonov come to KLGB several times, Super Guppy, B-1s, Hercs, F-18s, Nasa T-38s, DC-3s (daily when Catalina Flying Boats was using them), DC-10s/MD-11s, C-17 production, and many more.

Then there was MCAS' El Toro and Tustin.

I live close to the Charleston, SC AFB. Home of a few C17's. I hear then all the time. My time in Kuwait i got up close to many aircraft.
Unloading 747 cargo/pax. 737 pax, 767 pax ect... But i will always remember military aircraft, Didnt see any fighters. It was just a stop for cargo logistics. Many C5, c17 c130. I will NEVER forget my short time in Kuwait.

I've never seen them actually fly, but I've seen them parked and waiting on parts a lot of times.

I'd love to see an Antov in person but it hasn't happened yet.

Stopped in Omaha, NE to see an SR-71 at the SAC museum a few years ago when driving across the country. Impressive machine.

    .
...^^^... I saw a SR-71 take off from Kadena AFB on Okinawa ... it was about August or early September in 1967 .... the MP's cleared the terminal before it took off. They rolled a large canvas cover over the high chain-link fence by the terminal to keep people from looking at it ... but I had a great view from my position. :) You could get into SERIOUS trouble if you tried to photograph it too.

    It was super loud too.
