Catawba county is a safety only inspection, just make sure all your lights work. Then tag office for plates and sticker. It's rather painless.

My issue is I built a whole new front frame section and things like that, dont know how strict they get with that.

 

If the VIN matches the title you are A-OK

 

Dude you literally can build a whole car from a pile of metal here go to a DMV officer they look it over give you a VIN and register it. Only hang up would be inspection if you have anything that would fail like loose steering components, lights broken or out, check engine light etc. They don't care that you SAS'd it and redid the frame nor do they look for or at that kind of thing. NC is a very easy state to get a long with on that kind of thing. Hell you could tube buggy that thing as long as you still have the VIN markings on it it's a registerable vehicle.

Yeah that'll need to work here. But that kind of thing isn't a big deal. We don't even care how far the tires stick out from the fenders. That's what insurance is for if your shitbox causes an accident right.

 

Yea I have all the parts to do it, just never hooked it up.

Illinois is the same way, they only inspect commercial motor vehicles and test emissions.

2000 and older is a Safety inspection, no emissions. Found that out this time around with my Rover.

 

2000? I thought it was 25 years?

 

if it’s more than 35 y/o no inspection period.

 

more than 20 years old, no emissions.

And by “emissions” it means they just read the computer to make sure there are no fault codes.

 

That's what emissions is here as well, takes 2mins.
