I’ve always thought about doing something similar but using a large piece of ABS hung off the side of my bed rack

i threw them away because i used them while building our house and got them covered in paint so no close ups, but if you look at this pic you can see it in the back of the bed. I used those green ones, because the cap fits a thread hose bibb. Went to napa got the schrader valve and pulled out the stock vent cap on the top of the can. drilled it out bigger threaded the schrader valve in and epoxied it to make it air tight. filled it up to 10-15lbs and it gives you a couple minutes of water depending on the spray.

    [IMG]DSC_5110

    that would work too.

I used to photograph night clubs and the promoter would pay me with a bar tab. I would drink 8 double jack and cokes in the 4 hours I was working most times. Makes my teeth hurt every time I drink one now.

How are your maxtrax attached to your tire/trasharoo?

Small ratchet straps around the maxtrax, then the trasharoo goes in an X through the spare. So the bottom straps go in the rim and the top straps go over the tire.

Then my hi-lift bolts to the top of the tire carrier.

So everything goes around that square blocking that runs vertical.

Or use a bag so you can shower where ever, leave it in the sun instead of just where the truck is parked, and use gravity instead of having to charge it with air.

    Both have pros and cons.

Is Ben around anymore? Benson_X I think was his handle here
How about Will? Penguin_cc or something like that

I know I drifted away for awhile, came back briefly, then disappeared again until a couple days ago.
I got out with a guy over here a couple weekends ago, and punched about an inch and a half gash in my sidewall. I wasn't really ready to get new tires, but the spare was pretty ancient and a smaller size, with cracks in the sidewalls. When I got new tires, I had to get a new rim for the spare, because the old rim was only 6.5 inches, and the new tires are 285/75/16, and requires 7 inch minimum. Almost $1500 in debt later, I have 5 new tires

Yeah Ben pokes his head in here from time to time. Haven't seen a post from Will in quite a while. Or boatracer.

I finally painted that skid I got from you via Jarrod and tw express. I didn't bother to do any prep, so another layer of black paint over the silver/gray and the pink. Definitely been using it and it's saved more than a few hard hits.

    Ok peeps!

New question: Best no-expiration Satellite Phone? We don't go out enough to pay a monthly fee, but not so little to pay to rent one... Any recommendations?

    TIA!

I haven't priced out sat phones before. Is satellite texting ok? Is it for out of cell range emergencies? Me and some others here have InReach devices which also have an SOS button and will get search and rescue to your GPS location. I pay about $20/month.

I only put about 6 layers of paint on it myself. I'm glad someone is able to use that skid

id say probably get the Inreach Mini for sat texting/SOS/GPS coords etc. You can do the freedom plan and purchase a month when ever you have your next trip planned. Costco is actually selling them right now i think with 1 month free ~300$

Edit: I personally use the basic subscription and have an annual subscription (its about $12/Month) and leave the inreach in my truck. Imo its the price of 2 cups of coffee a month so not bad for the peace of mind. Whenever i go out i can text my wife and let her know everything is fine (Preset messages are free) but also frankly its not too epensive if you need to use more than your alloted monthly messages. Again i think peace of mind in a worst case scenario makes it worth the fee
