Mainly wanted to see who drilled out the spot welds vs cutting out most the panel and leaving the spot welds

Derp, didn’t see all the replies lol. They got you lined out it seems.

It wasn’t hard. I did it with cut off wheel, drill, nail punch and a chisel :D

a spot weld tool woulda been epic!

Yeah the confusing part is there’s an inside skin on the bed rails that looked like I had left it from cutting but it’s the underneath part of the bed rail when you remove the exterior panels after spot drilling.

I left the bed rail intake, cut it about 3” below bed rail and then separated spot welds at front and brake light areas.

Maybe too late but a step bit made short work of the welds.

I had cheap ones from harbor freight so ones with any semblance of quality should do the job no problem at all

Looks not bad, needs a good gone through with the suspension paint new bushings joints, shocks rebuilt and should be good to go. Good buy priced higher but its nice.

If you don’t mind removing the whole truck from the frame, wire wheeling and sanding or scotchbriting all the threaded holes and bolts you don’t feel like paying to replace then $14k isn’t too bad. I’d estimate 6 months of effort to get it in aceptable condition, 4 years if you’re like me...

thank you for taking a look and your opinion on it. Unfortunately I don’t really have the time to do that as this would be replacing my daily driver. Maybe I’ll just build the tacoma I currently have sitting at 99k miles when I have a bit of time and money for it. Or maybe if I see a nice one from the states I’ll import it as it seems there’s a lot more long travel trucks down there.

Not to be snarky - but I just don’t know off the top of my head - search “nitrogen” in “this thread only” and a lot of things should come up. Lots of guys put their own kit together which you might find links when you search

Down South Motor Sports or Kartek both sell them.

Or roll your own from parts they sell.
