Looking for Tundra big brake info

Need to change the stock front brakes on my03 Taco. I read about the Tundra upgrade, but cannot find the post that the person even gave pn for the job. I can`t find it now. Used the search no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I looked at the Power stop brand that don`t look bad but the kit I want is sold out at all their dealers. No idea when the will get more stock. Thanks for any help.

When I upgraded to tundra brakes I found some 231mm calipers at a junkyard and rebuilt them myself with OEM parts. I did the banjo bolt mod too. No issues for 3 years now.
Just way better braking. Make sure to inspect and adjust the rear brakes while your at it.

I wouldn’t recommend that kit, it’s over priced and honestly not worth it in my opinion. Its what I got and wish I hadn’t. The first set of calipers I got came in a little rust and pitted, LCE took care of it no problem, but also the rotors for some reason feel slightly warped but they’re not. Also there is no warranty on it at all. It’s a solid reliable kit but I think it’s way over priced to not have a warranty, and drilled and slotted rotors really are just kind of a hoax unless your the person who brakes the whole way down a hill or races, also they are more prone to heat cracks if you do over heat them. I would suggest NAPA since the warranty is pretty good. Everything else is decently cheap to peace together.
Also make sure you paint them as soon as possible as they are bare and will rust if not painted

Great feedback on the kit, it's part of the reason I put together the brake line kit. I felt like the offering(s) from LCE were:

• too expensive
• included parts you don't need (like a rear brake line)
• was confusing (there are options for different length front lines, which are generally unnecessary)

One other thing I've heard but don't have first hand knowledge/confirmation of, is that the calipers that come with the LCE kit are 13WE calipers (199 mm), rather than 13WL (231 mm). So, you get an expensive kit, and a smaller pad surface area. If that's really the case, it's not ideal, IMO.

I honestly can’t remember as it’s been almost 2 years since I bought it but I’m pretty sure they are the 13WL. I will check tomorrow and update so it can be known for those looking.

I fucked up by getting that kit haha, never again will I purchase a premade kit without pricing each part, and paying close attention to exactly what it is I’m buying. It was the first thing I bought for the truck as the brakes were pretty shot and I was 20 and eager to slap some bigger brakes on it so I opted for the kit instead of doing my research.

Also have any of you had experience with G2 caliper paint? I did two coats on the calipers when I got them and they started rusting in about 6 months and are pretty bad now, nothing crazy but would need to be sand blasted to paint again. My brother used it before and never had a problem, maybe I messed something up but just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Theres no issue with the kit still 2 years later, other than the price and that they aren’t 13WL. Although they still are way better than stock brakes.

 

Badone, rebuilding calipers is very easy. Find some 13wl’s from a 2005 Tundra or Sequoia and follow this video.

I prefer the 199mm over the 231mm brakes if you're wanting to have more options for 16" OEM wheels.
