Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
Just traded in my wife’s AMG GLE 63 S. It was nasty. Too many nannies. I would much rather have my 997.1 turbo back any day of the week over it.

Here's a thought for the group... Why does the blower get hot? Because it's sitting on a hot convection oven of an engine. This doesn't help the whole "heat soak" situation the blower sees.

This is a hypothetical because I know there are a few factors to factor in here.. but what if we were to manufacture and adapt in a Phenolic gasket? An 8mm gasket is capable of keeping temps down by as much as 44 degrees at the blower. That would help us a ton considering the blower is made of aluminum.

that is a great idea. how would it affect mounting brackets or bolts? would it alter belt length? it would give injector and coil packs a bit more room. where would we get one made? is it something a 3d printer could produce?

Some people in the Subie scene are fond of phenolic gaskets. I have not seen any measurements of their effectiveness in steady state or heatsoak conditions. I think in a on-power scenario the drop in air temps would be marginal at best.

I say just inject water if you’re wanting to cool down the supercharger

Or fuel or Methanol mix. The supercharger itself generates the heat from compressing the air as well. De-coupling it won't solve all the heat issues.

Oh well yeah, I was never proposing it does. Simply eliminating one of the heat generation variables. The rotors themselves are another issue all of their own.

Does anyone have a non-ugly mount in the front/center storage area that could keep an oil temp/pressure and trans temp gauge? Or should I just do an overhead swap of the outdoor temp/compass for a Scangauge?

I really like that. Nicely done.

My cubby just collects junk anyway. Would be great to add more gauges to monitor things under heavy loads. Like towing in summer.

Those hammer hangers are stout. I used a couple of heavy duty sanding flap disks to ground the rivets, cutting oil while drilling, and black frame paint. Pretty easy job otherwise

    “California”

I think technically we’re not even supposed to inject water. The only exemption is the M4 GTS that has the water tank in the trunk.
