Central California truck camping trip. Did solo camping for the first night in SLO area. Our scouts saved us a spot in Big Sur earlier that afternoon. I was on the way up but was starting to doze off behind the wheel. Thanks to God, his Holy Spirit helped lead me to find this really cool spot in the night. The morning sunrise was an amazing surprise. It was my first time camping along California’s central coastline. It was really neat to see the clouds that rolled in along the coast from up above them. Note: it seems to get super windy up there. Good to wear some ear plugs/ear pros when trying to go to sleep if you’re a light sleeper.
Also, I was staying strapped so I don’t get clapped.

Your situation here was my exact reasoning for getting a RTT. One time driving along the CA coast I started to get too tired to drive. At that time we were sleeping in the bed of the truck, and thus would have had to pull off, unload everything and hop in back, and hope nobody stole the bins sitting outside the bed. Not something I really wanted to do along the coastal highway. Luckily we found a little resort and were able to get the last room at a discount.

That said, now I can just pull over, any time, pop the tent while leaving my shit packed and go to sleep. Much better for road tripping, especially on long drives where you're trying to cover ground rather than enjoy the scenery.

Yessir. Some may call it glamping. I would also put it under a tacticamping category of camping. Mobility and preparedness goes up a few notches with a properly prepped rtt setup. Gotta trademark that word: tacticamping lol

What do people use for leveling out their camp setup? I haven't had this problem until recently and ended propping the tires up on rocks. I've seen some yellow/orange Lego looking blocks...How are those?

I have them and they work well. They tend to break after a bit, but cheap enough to replace easily.

I'm so used to the Great Lakes that it is normal to me so I always take for granted that most people aren't used to that sight. I met a guy from Texas who came up and described Lake Michigan as if he were looking at the ocean. He said, "I've never seen a lake you couldn't even see across."

That's pretty much it. Growing up in WA, you have the puget sound, where you can always see across to the next mountain range over the water, or you have the coast where you can't see across and know that you're obviously at the ocean. So my mind says "ocean!" when I see the great lakes lol.

Sometimes Lake Michigan has waves that could rival the ocean. It’s an amazing piece of nature really.
