If i'm using the RCA pre outs to my amp for a sub and all the speakers I don't need to wire the speaker leads into the TO2 harness, right?

Correct. You can just cap all of the speaker wires coming from the pioneer.

A small improvement on the grinding out of the OEM mounting plate dimple, you can also drill it out and use that as a pilot for the final installation hole

How are u going to tie the speakers into the amp? I had the jbl system and tied them into the wires directly where the amp was.

So what I did was not the right way to do it but I didn't want to run wire thru the doors. I'm going to do that when I install my puddle lights.

I ran the RCAs to the new amp under the driver seat. Ran Sub out speaker wire to it behind the rear seat... then, I ran all four sets of amplified speak outputs back to behind the HU and connected them back to the factory wiring. It's the same as a normal install I just have 2X the length of wire to each speaker. I'll fix it soon... probably...

So from what I'm reading everyone that puts the Mic in the factory location has success? I have mine on top of the steering wheel column and apparently is sounds like crap. I haven't ran anything up to the stock location because when I installed my last stereo (4400) I didn't know that was possible. Anyway.. if I run the stock one up there will it sound better? what kind of foam should I used, I think i read that someone else here used some foam around it.... orrrrr should I buy that mic that is made to go up there?

From what I understand there is no mic that has a 2.5mm or 3.5mm connection that fits in that location that is currently being made.

I used a piece of foam left over from a gun case so it was pretty high density. I cut a rectangle that was slightly larger then the hole in the console so it would fit in there tight. Then I cut a small hole in the center of the foam and just pushed the mic straight down. Everyone says it is clearer then the stock mic and sounds better. Bonus is it makes it real easy to remove if you need to pull the console down again because it is not stuck with glue or mounting tape.

This is how I have done mine for years. I usually run 2 wires and tie all left together and all right together. I then run a large 2 channel amp. I have also ran the 4 wires on their own 4 channel amp, but have not been able to tell the difference. Well u will love it! Take care bro!

I’m sorry if I missed this discussed but had anyone installed this unit into a Tacoma with jbl and if so how do you like it and have you switched out your stock jbl speakers. I did just get off the phone with crutchfield and they kept saying that this head unit does not fit into the Tacoma but I just read through 44 pages with some nice looking pics that it does just don’t remember ready if it works with the jbl.

Yes it 100% works with replacing jbl units in 16-19 Tacoma’s. You need the maestro rr or rr2 and associated wire harnesses. Others have switched leaving stock speakers and been very happy! Mine replaced the jbl system, but I use amplifiers to feed the stock speakers and aftermarket subs. Even amplified with the bass removed from the door speakers they sound great.

And one more issue I’m having, after the backup cam goes off the screen just stays black. It’s still working but I have to touch a home screen button to get it to display anything other than a black screen
