Anyone else now recently having an issue with their iPhone (Mine is XR) dropping Bluetooth calls when connected to the radio? This just started maybe 2-3 weeks ago (maybe around iOS upgrade?) and now it does it on almost every call more than once. It’s become unusable.

I did get the latest 17 radio update and loaded but it still happened. Thanks in advance

Okay I have a 18 and this happens to me all the time. It also happened in my 4runner too. Also have an XR I was thinking it’s the phone not the truck.

Never had problems with my Samsung. I wonder if it's an apple thing

It may be the phone, but I haven’t had this problem until a few weeks ago. Been having the XR working fine for almost a year. Could be an Apple update that broke something but not sure. I was wondering if you can use a 2020 radio update on a 17? I figure if there was an iOS issue that it would be resolved on the new software for the radio.

That is my next step. I also saw a you tube if you hold the volume knob down for 5 sec it will reboot head unit. I did have a bug that dealer fixed for $75.00. Updated the head unit. Head unit would keep rebooting. Problem seems to have happened after alexa update. May try to re pair as well. Wish we had car play vs alexa. Toyota can do better.

One thing that seems to mess up these radios is having multiple phones connected, and sometimes even with one the connection seems to get confused. Go into the phone settings on the head unit and remove all of the Bluetooth connected phones (including yours), then reconnect it. This seems to fix a lot of the issues.

The 2020 radio can be retrofitted into the 2017 and similar 3rd gens, a couple folks on here have done it now. I’m collecting the parts to do mine too, just looking for a donor head unit now. Here’s a couple examples:

Thanks, Iceman. I’ll delete and re-add the phone today and give that a shot. I will definitely upgrade the receiver now as my next mod.

I’ve tried everything to fix this issue and nothing has helped. I have given up and now wear earbuds to talk on the phone. I’ve yet to have a problem with Spotify but my phone calls completely disconnects.

Damn that’s disappointing. Are you using an iPhone XR too? I guess it’s earbuds or buying a new receiver at this point. That sucks.
