I bought a three year warranty, welder did fine, took it back at 2 years 11 months, told them "I would like a new one" - asked if there was a problem with the old one, "Yep, it's old" - new welder out the door in ten minutes. Bought a three year on that one, plan to do the same. Mind you, I was provided this information from an employee of HF, so there you go.

New Clazzios, and got rid of that awful fabric on the doors! Added two lift supports for the tailgate. Also finally got rid of the factory stereo and added a pioneer touch screen with Maestro, and replaced the five factory speakers.

we just took the whole grill off then removed the toyota badge and the black inner part. very tedious because there are a bunch of tabs and screws but overall easy. sanded down the entirety of the chrome and sprayed about 3 coats of white adhesive primer. let it sit for an hour and sprayed it down with about 5 coats of toyota super white II. let it sit all day and then put everything back together. i would wait til the next day to do that but my dad got excited and decided to put it back together early while i was gone. overall very simple and won’t cost you more than $30-$40

also did a little cosmetic repair. not the best pictures bc i didn’t take a good one of the damage or a proper after pic but just had to sand down this area of the bumper and hit it with some super white. blends in pretty seamlessly in person

I know right? It does look funny. My new set of tires has 5 of them. The spare is going to be mounted vertical in the right rear of the bed when I install the new set of tires. Did you notice I hacked half of the rear bumper off and raised the hitch?

65 % of this country has no paved roads (the western part), so almost all people drive pickup trucks : Hilux, Nissan frontier, Ford ranger, Chevy S10 and Mazda.
The most popular is the Hilux, everybody knows Toyota is the most reliable brand.
There are so many Hilux on the roads, that a friend of mine said : "the Hilux is the average Joe's car"...

As said before in another post, I don't like to do the same as everyman do.
I don't say Hilux is not good, it is certainly a good car, but it's not better at all than a Taco , and I don't want an Hilux because everyman has one.
I've been working for 10 years with the Tacoma 2d gen, in rough conditions, and I don't want another truck.
Moreover, the Tacoma is the only midsize truck with a long bed, and the Tacoma is (in my eyes) the most beautiful one. And I love the V6 4.0 engine.
Everyone has his preferences, I like a nice watch, or a nice rifle, and a nice truck. and for me the Tacoma is the most beautiful. It's a personal choice.
In this country, there are a very few trucks from the US, and the Tacoma is the only truck with gasoline engine, so a lot of folks ask me about the mileage. ("What a nice truck" is the first comment they do).
And I assure you that all those Hilux and Nissan and Ford ranger, etc... with their 4 cyl. diesel engine consume the same as the Tacoma, and here, there is no difference between the prices of gasoline and good diesel.
Personally, the Tacoma is the best truck I ever worked with, reliable, excellent on paved roads, and excellent on crappy roads, with heavy dust or mud.
In the first 20 years of my career, I worked in big ranches in Africa (all time off road), always with Toyota (Landcruiser 6 cyl.trucks), and yes this is the best brand.

Cleaned up the engine bay to get ready for some mods next week. And braided some paracord for a steering wheel cover

In this thread, there're a lot of posts about many "mods" installed on your Tacomas.
I've been working with Toyota trucks and SUV for 36 years.
And 2020 is my 12th year on Tacoma 2d gen. (2008 DCSB 4x4 TRD sport; and 2014 DCLB 4x4 TRD sport).
I could be interesting to share with you and to try to classify the mods I tried, according with my experience.

1/ Mods I installed because my Taco is a working truck, used 80 % time off-road, dust or mud (both very heavy) :
    - Metallic front bumper
    - Dobinson suspension
    - 3 inches lift
    - mud tires (Cooper STT Pro)
    - Pipe exhaust pipe (facing back)
    - Wider Fender flares , because of the wheel spacers
    - UNI filter on secundary Air injection pump, and on diff. breather
    - Seat covers (Carhartt), to protect the leather seats
    - rear SUMO springs
    - Snorkel SAFARI, with DONALDSON Topspin pre-cleaner
    - Bed stiffeners
    - LED light bar + LED spots lights
    - Husky floor liners

2/ Mods I also installed, but really helpful for any truck (on, or off-road) :
    - Oil catch can
    - Window deflectors (Vent shade in-channel)
    - Redline Tunings hood quick lift system
    -LED interior package
    - KN washable cabin air filter
    - Bed extender (on short bed)

3/ Mods only for aesthetic/decorative (but don't improve nothing)
    - Aluminium grille
    - switch knobs
    - hood deflector
    - tonneau cover (helpful when raining, but catches tons of dust in dry season)
    - wood gear shift knob

    4/ Mods I can't classify :
    - Flowmaster 50 muffler
    - Pedal Commander throttle response
    - AFe Power silver bullet throttle body spacer

5/ Mods with negative experience :
    - Bilstein 5100 shocks
    - Old Man Emu shocks
    - Sachs lift support for tailgate
    - LED headlight bulbs

    Hope it could help...
