I daily a 2000 911. It is a blast to drive. The turbo would be something as I can't imagine what it would be like compared to normally aspirated. I would ask for service records, carfax and get a 3rd party to do a pre purchase inspection. I gave up my taco for a Porsche. Good luck OP.

I have an offer in front of me now for $24,850 from them. I paid $25,536 almost two years ago (!). Offer expires Aug 10th but the issue is there is no Carvana in my state and I'm too far away for them to pick it up. Great offer though!

You better have a very good understanding of costs to operate the 911. Especially with that mileage. They are no joke for parts and cost to repair. I would def not take that trade.

Yep. That was noted a few times since my question. Given the age, the price difference for a Turbo would probably save money over the IMS swap on a Carrera.

Yeah I agree, hardly a fair comparison since the 911 Turbo cost about twice as much as the C7, yet performance is not that far apart. I own/have owned both.
Below is stock C7 Grandsport with entry level 460hp, you still have the 650hp Z06 and 755hp ZR1 over that @212+ mph.

That was on a closed runway, in a car that's made to travel at that speed and more, so probably as safe as you can be in a sportscars at that rate of speed.

I believe you, but still too fast for me hahaha fastest I’ve been is around 118mph on a car that like you said, in my case it was NOT design for that kind of speeds hahahah but reached that speed...

I guess I’m a Porsche guy. Own a 997 GTS and did my homework before I bought it (kinda like what I’m doing now before my T4R purchase).

The naturally aspirated 996s had an issue with the IMS but not the Turbo. But the entire 996 lineup is now treating kinda like the “red headed stepchild” they can be had for a fraction of what other generations go for. Look up 993 and 997 Turbo pricing and compare that to a 996. They are a pretty sweet bargain actually and no real problems. 415 HP and pretty fun.

Prices have been around 40k for years. But honestly I don’t see the value of 996 Turbos changing much. I love driving a vehicle that basically doesn’t depreciate.

100%. The thing to remember is even though the car is 35K or so now..... this was a 100K plus German Supercar brand new. Maintenance numbers are almost insulting. Cheap tuneup at the Porsche specialist not dealership is $500.

I think I remember reading a review that the C7 Grandsport was the sweet spot for value and performance.

I feel like ya might as well get the Z06 at that point, right?

Personally, I feel the GS is the sweet spot as evident by my purchasing that model. It's exceptional combination of power-handling-braking makes the over-all Grand Sport driving experience the most favorable IMO. However if raw power/toque is your preference, the Z06 has a top end of approx 205mph as opposed to Grandsport's approx 185mph. The Z06 is $14,000 more than the GS at MSRP.

The 911 Turbo is an amazing sportscar, but at approx twice the cost of the C7 Corvette. You just don't get more sportscar-performance for the dollar spent than Corvette.

Personally, I’d do it, then buy a new SR5 to start over in a year or so.

996’s are an excellent buy right now and are very likely to go up in value. Granted, 105k is pretty high so yours will be towards the lower end of the market but if it’s a clean title, and your truck is stock, it’s a fair trade. Pretty sure the turbos don’t have the IMS issue (didn’t read the whole thread so don’t know if someone mentioned this yet).

Check out Doug demuro’s video on the 996 Turbo.
